Feasibility of sustained response through long-term dosing in food allergy immunotherapy

open access: yesAllergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology, 2017
Background Clinical trials using oral immunotherapy (OIT) for the treatment of food allergies have shown promising results. We previously demonstrated the feasibility of desensitization for up to 5 food allergens simultaneously through OIT.

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

Effect of Foot Orthoses on Midfoot Pain and the Volume of Bone Marrow Lesions in the Midfoot: A Randomized Mechanism of Action Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Foot orthoses are thought to improve pain by potentially modifying internal mechanical forces. To test this, we explored whether foot orthoses can modify patterns of bone marrow lesions (BMLs) in people with midfoot pain. Methods Forty‐two people were recruited with midfoot pain, and magnetic resonance imaging–confirmed midfoot BMLs ...

Fish oil and vitamin D in pregnancy for the prevention of early childhood asthma: study protocol for two double-blinded, randomised controlled trials

open access: yesBMJ Open
Introduction Previous randomised controlled trials (RCTs) have indicated a protective role of pregnancy supplementation with fish oil and high-dose vitamin D, respectively, on offspring asthma, infections and several other disorders in early childhood ...

Temporal Trends and Short‐ and Long‐Term Mortality of People With Acute Myocardial Infarction and Rheumatoid Arthritis: A Nationwide Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We investigated whether a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) affects the quality of inpatient acute myocardial infarction (AMI) care and long‐term mortality post‐AMI. Methods We analyzed data from 784,091 adults, 6,047 with a diagnosis of RA, from England and Wales hospitalized with AMI between 2005 and 2019 from the Myocardial Ischaemia ...
