Maternal diabetes mellitus during pregnancy as a risk factor for strabismus and refractive errors in the offspring—A large‐scale national study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, Volume 172, Issue 1, Page 565-572, January 2026.
Abstract Objective To investigate whether maternal diabetes during pregnancy is associated with increased risk of strabismus and refractive errors (RE) in their offspring. Methods This retrospective cohort study utilized electronic medical records from Clalit Health Services (CHS) in Israel, 2001–2023. Births were categorized by maternal diabetes type (

CDG due to Defective Membrane Transporters: Update

open access: yesJournal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, Volume 49, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Congenital disorders of glycosylation are genetic defects in the glycoprotein and glycolipid glycan assembly and attachment. Some 200 CDG have been reported since the first clinical description in 1980. Most CDG are enzymatic deficiencies, but 13 (6.5%) are defects in the ER, Golgi apparatus (GA), and plasma membrane transporters.

Impact of Beam Profile on Raman Spectroscopy Measurements

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, Volume 57, Issue 1, Page 181-191, January 2026.
Characterisation and optimisation of the laser beam profile in Raman spectroscopy is critical to ensure accuracy and reproducibility of measurements. The laser beam size and profile have a significant effect on the axial resolution, energy distribution on the sample, focal spot size and excitation volume.

Orbital Angular Momentum Meta‐Holography with Full‐Polarization Control

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 1, 8 January 2026.
This work demonstrates full‐polarization‐controlled orbital angular momentum (OAM) holography using a single‐layer dielectric metasurface. By independently modulating the complex‐amplitude distributions of two circular polarizations, arbitrary spatially varying polarization is achieved while preserving OAM properties.

Asymmetrically Nonlinear Generation of Optical Orbital Angular Momentum via Cooperation of Bragg Diffraction and Birefringent Phase Matching

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 2, 22 January 2026.
Nonlinear orbital angular momentum (OAM) manipulation is crucial for fundamental physics and information technologies. An integrated lithium niobate platform combining Bragg diffraction and birefringent phase matching asymmetrically generates and controls second‐harmonic OAM beams, achieving a normalized conversion efficiency of 10−2 W−1 and supports a
