A proposed standard for quantifying 3-D hindlimb joint poses in living and extinct archosaurs. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Anat, 2022
We propose a standard approach for measuring the relative position and orientation of the major segments of the archosaur pelvis and hindlimb in 3‐D. A set of shared conventions for describing pose and kinematics is essential for fostering comparison among species and for maximizing communication.

Classification of forest and shrubland vegetation in central and eastern Euxine Turkey and SW Georgia

open access: yesApplied Vegetation Science, Volume 26, Issue 4, October/December 2023., 2023
Central and eastern Euxine Turkey and SW Georgia, part of the Caucasus biodiversity hotspot, display a high vegetation diversity with 29 different forest and shrubland vegetation types. This vegetation diversity not only indicates the importance of the region in terms of nature conservation but also the reference value in restoration studies and ...

Taxonomic, functional and phylogenetic diversity peaks do not coincide along a compositional gradient in forest‐grassland mosaics

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 111, Issue 1, Page 182-197, January 2023., 2023
Functional and phylogenetic diversity do not necessarily coincide with taxonomic diversity along vegetation cover gradients. In ecosystems where forest and grassland patches represent alternative stable states, the trends of taxonomic diversity may be similar to those revealed here, but functional diversity patterns may be more system‐specific for some

Can medical herbs stimulate regeneration or neuroprotection and treat neuropathic pain in chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy? [PDF]

open access: yesEvid Based Complement Alternat Med, 2013
Chemotherapy‐induced neuropathy (CIPN) has a relevant impact on the quality of life of cancer patients. There are no curative conventional treatments, so further options have to be investigated. We conducted a systematic review in English and Chinese language databases to illuminate the role of medical herbs.

Joint and Myofascial Manual Therapy Techniques in Haemophilic Ankle Arthropathy: A Randomized Pilot Study

open access: yesHaemophilia, Volume 31, Issue 2, Page 295-303, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Haemophilic ankle arthropathy is characterized by chronic pain, loss of strength and proprioception, decreased range of motion (ROM) and impaired functionality. Objective To evaluate the safety and efficacy of a manual therapy protocol based on joint and myofascial techniques in patients with haemophilic ankle arthropathy. Methods A

Classification of the high‐rank syntaxa of the Central and Eastern Balkan dry grasslands with a new hierarchical expert system approach

open access: yesApplied Vegetation Science, Volume 27, Issue 2, April/June 2024.
We classified the dry grasslands of the Central and Eastern Balkan Peninsula with a large dataset and a new classification approach, called iterative cluster optimisation for hierarchical expert systems (ICO‐HES). We distinguish and describe 12 alliances, placed in eight orders and four classes, with one alliance and one order new to science.

Environmental filtering is the primary driver of community assembly in forest–grassland mosaics: A case study based on CSR strategies

open access: yesJournal of Vegetation Science, Volume 35, Issue 1, January/February 2024.
Eight vegetation types (both woody and non‐woody) of forest–grassland mosaics were investigated. Each type was dominated by the stress‐tolerator strategy, indicating the prominent role of environmental filtering in community assembly in the study region.
