An Automatic System for Determining Astronomical Azimuth
Measurement Techniques, 2015Results of a study to create a high-precision system for determining astronomical azimuth are presented. The composition, structural features, and algorithmic support of the device are considered. Results of an estimation of the precision of azimuthal measurements that confirm the high precision characteristics of the device are presented.

Monitoring the Accuracy Characteristics of an Automatic System for Determining Astronomical Azimuth
Measurement Techniques, 2019The problem of monitoring the accuracy characteristics of an automatic system for determining the astronomical azimuth is solved. The importance of this problem arises from the lack of a high precision standard with which the characteristics of this system could be monitored by comparison. An approach is developed for estimating the increments (changes)

Rapid methods for determining astronomical azimuths
Eos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1944Astronomical computations for position or azimuth are not difficult for the astronomer or mathematician, even though such computations may be time‐consuming. In the past few years, however, there has been a general trend toward the simplification of problems involving astronomy.

Precise Determination of Astronomical Azimuth by the Hour Angle Method of Multiple Meridian Stars
Chinese Astronomy and Astrophysics, 2020Abstract The method for precisely determining the astronomical azimuth using the local hour angle (LHA) of Polaris is only applicable in northern middle latitudes. In addition, the meridian star pair method is limited by the conditions of star selection and matching.

Astronomical azimuth determination by the hour angle of Polaris using ordinary total stations
Survey Review, 2008AbstractThe determination of the astronomical azimuth of a line is not a difficult task for surveyors any more. The aim of this paper is to analyze the theoretical details and errors in order to propose the use of ordinary total stations, for an easy, efficient and accurate determination of the astronomical azimuth of a line by the hour angle method ...

Estimation of the azimuth of an astronomic reference
Guidance and Control Conference, 1978The determination of the azimuth of an astronomic reference is an important aspect in the calibration and evaluation of ICBM guidance system performance. Another useful area is the initial and precise in-flight alignment of inertial platforms, azimuth gyros, and the subsequent monitoring of these platforms.

An astronomical azimuth measurement system aided with an automatic gyro total station
SPIE Proceedings, 2006Gyro orientation technique is widely used in many fields, such as navigation, aviation, space probe and engineering construction. It is one of the key techniques in subterranean construction. In this paper, the advantages and disadvantages of the orientation methods such as GPS orientation, gyro-orientation and astronomical orientation are ...

Survey Review, 2005
At the Faculty of Geodesy, University of Zagreb, the automatic astronomical method of determining the azimuth by observing stars and the Sun has been developed within the frame of the scientific work. The classical astronomical method of azimuth determination is rather uneconomical because of extensive field measurements and long-lasting processing ...
