Method of Relative Measurements to Control the Accuracy Characteristics of an Automatic Astronomic Azimuth System

2019 26th Saint Petersburg International Conference on Integrated Navigation Systems (ICINS), 2019
A method of relative measurements to control the accuracy characteristics of the automatic system for determining the astronomical azimuth is proposed and the algorithms for its implementation are given. The development of the method is relevant since there is no reference base for direct (absolute) control of accuracy characteristics by ...

DETERMINATION OF THE AZIMUTH WITH SOLAR OBSERVATIONS WITHOUT ANY PARTICULAR ASTRONOMICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SPHERICAL TRIGONOMETRY

Survey Review, 2004
Abstract Determination of astronomical Azimuth from a Fixed station A to a Trigonometrical point B, seen from A, constitutes a problem resolvable in different ways. If point B is not present, we can employ a geodetic TARGET to calculate astronomical azimuth from solar observations, and consider such azimuth as a geodetic azimuth [6].

Evaluation of a GPS-Based Approach for Rapid and Precise Determination of Geodetic/Astronomical Azimuth

Journal of Surveying Engineering, 2006
The rapid and precise determination of the azimuth information, purely based on the satellite positioning technology of global positioning system (GPS), is tested and evaluated by this paper. The main consideration of using GPS for the azimuth determination is expected to replace the traditional astronomical azimuth measurement, which is believed to be

A Study on the Effect Produced by Instrumental Error of Automated Astronomical System on Landmark Azimuth Accuracy

Giroskopiya i Navigatsiya, 2021
The paper analyzes how random and systematic components of instrumental error of an automated astronomical system affect the accuracy of the landmark astronomical azimuth. The obtained results can be applied to construct the error mathematical model and to define the mutual orientation of the body axes when designing the system.

Fast And Accurate Determination Of Astronomical Coordinates Φ, Λ. AND AZIMUTH, USING A TOTAL STATION AND GPS RECEIVER

Survey Review, 2003
AbstractThis work reports the development of a system for fast and accurate determination of astronomical latitude (ϕ), longitude (Λ) and azimuth (A). The system consists of a high-precision total station, with the appropriate software for automatic registration of the measured elements, connected to a GPS receiver through which accurate UTC timing is ...

A discussion of the accuracy required in astronomic determinations for Laplace azimuth control

Eos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1951
The need of increasing the number of observations for azimuth as one approaches higher latitudes is discussed and frequent reference is made to differences of opinion existing between two members of the Geographical Service of Norway in regard to the value of Laplace azimuths in the adjustment of triangulation observed in the Far North. A tabulation of

Using GPS to Determine an Astronomic-Geodetic Transformation for a Precise Azimuth Reference (PAR).

1995
Abstract : A technique is presented to generate a transformation between the astronomic and geodetic reference frames. The transformation is based on knowing the orientation of a plane in both reference frames. The plane's astronomic orientation is assumed to be known.

ASTRONOMICAL DETERMINATION OF AZIMUTH AND LATITUDE BY OBSERVATION OF TWO UNKNOWN STARS WITHOUT TIME MEASUREMENT AND KNOWLEDGE OF ASTRONOMY

Survey Review, 1991
AbstractThe method permits the precise determination of the azimuth of a target and the astronomical latitude of the observer, by observation to two unknown stars sufficiently symmetric with respect to the north direction and observed at different times.Compared with analogous methods employing only one unknown star, this method presents the advantage ...

A rapid astronomical method of observation for geodetic azimuth and prime vertical deflection of the vertical
