A Subpixel Deconvolution Method for Astronomical Images

1991
We present results from the use of an image deconvolution method for achieving subpixel resolution in certain data regimes. Restorations are performed using a shell which utilizes the Gull-Skilling MEMSYS-3 package. We have performed extensive tests using the method and have determined general limits of its applicability and resolving power. We present

Multiplexed astronomical images: advantages, method, and prototype instrument

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
In some optical systems in which a large field of view (and hence a large detector) is required, it is the detector which drives the total system cost. We propose a concept, and demonstrate an optical system, for an astronomical multiplexer. The instrument projects different portions of the telescope focal plane into a single (possibly) small detector ...

Rate of Change Methods in Astronomical Surveying

Journal of the Surveying and Mapping Division, 1980
A method is described whereby longitude, latitude and azimuth can be obtained by taking sights on the sun at short timed intervals. Both rate of change of altitude with time and rate of change of bearing with altitude can be used to calculate the observer’s position and the direction of the meridian.

On the astronomical method of tracking satellites

Chinese Astronomy, 1980
Abstract In this paper we use the theory of multivariate error analysis to find the expression for the covariance matrix of satellite positions attained by the astronomical method. The dependence of the positional accuracy of the target to the reference stars and on its position within an interpolated segment is discussed and explicit formulae are ...

Real-Time Image Compression Method for Astronomical Interferograms

1997
For astronomical interferometric observations, the life-time of the disturbing turbulences in the earth atmosphere leads to short exposure times (math), and consequently to the desire of high frame rates (> 8s_1) for a good exploitation of telescope time.

[A fractal denoising method for astronomical spectral signal].

Guang pu xue yu guang pu fen xi = Guang pu, 2015
To restore the continuum and the spectral lines from a noisy astronomical spectrum, then to measure the equivalent widths of the spectral lines, the fractal denoising method was firstly used in astronomical spectra in the present paper. The method is based on the distinguishing features, that is the local self-similarities exist in an astronomical ...
