IEEE Photonics Conference 2012, 2012The universe shines very brightly in the THz band. I will describe some of the technological developments that have led to an exponential, Moore's-law improvement in our ability to study the universe at THz frequencies.

1969Publisher Summary This chapter describes the performance of the Spectracon in astronomical spectroscopy. The performances of the Spectracon and the Lallemand electronic camera were compared by using the two systems at the focus of the same optical spectrograph, to observe the same astronomical sources, on the same type of recording emulsion.
