Comb-calibrated solar spectroscopy through a multiplexed single-mode fiber channel
We investigate a new scheme for astronomical spectrograph calibration using the laser frequency comb at the Solar Vacuum Tower Telescope on Tenerife. Our concept is based upon a single-mode fiber channel, that simultaneously feeds the spectrograph with ...

Emergent Magnetic Structures at the 2D Limit of the Altermagnet MnTe
Renewed interest in MnTe has emerged due to its intriguing altermagnetism, a newly identified form of magnetism distinct from conventional ferro‐, antiferro‐, or paramagnetism. By combining magnetic X‐ray absorption spectroscopy, scanning tunnelling microscopy, and first‐principles theory, this study reveals that thinning MnTe to the 2D limit ...

The SPHEREx Sky Simulator: Science Data Modeling for the First All-sky Near-infrared Spectral Survey
We describe the SPHEREx Sky Simulator (henceforth the Simulator), a software tool designed to model science data for NASA’s SPHEREx mission that will carry out a series of all-sky spectrophotometric surveys at ∼6″ spatial resolution in 102 spectral ...

Unprecedented Spin‐Lifetime of Itinerant Electrons in Natural Graphite Crystals
Graphite exhibits extraordinary spintronic potential, with electron spin lifetimes reaching 1,000 ns at room temperature ‐ over 100 times longer than graphene‐based devices. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy reveals strong anisotropy: out‐of‐plane spins live 50 times longer than their in‐plane counterparts.

Self‐Trapped Hole Migration and Defect‐Mediated Thermal Quenching of Luminescence in α‐ and β‐Ga2O3
Temperature‐dependent photoluminescence and first‐principles calculations reveal self‐trapped hole migration as the microscopic origin of thermal quenching in α‐ and β‐Ga2O3. The low migration barrier in α‐Ga2O3 enables defect trapping and enhances blue luminescence, while the higher barrier in β‐Ga2O3 preserves ultraviolet emission at elevated ...

A Low Noise Receiver for Submillimeter Astronomy [PDF]
A broadband, low noise heterodyne receiver, suitable for astronomical use, has been built using a Pb alloy superconducting tunnel junction (SIS). The RF coupling is quasioptical via a bowtie antenna on a quartz lens and is accomplished without any tuning

Thickness‐Dependent Skyrmion Evolution in Fe3GeTe2 During Magnetization Reversal
Thickness‐ and field‐dependent magnetic domain behavior in 2D van der Waals Fe3GeTe2 is studied using Lorentz TEM and micromagnetic simulations. A patch‐like domain phase evolves from skyrmions during magnetization reversal, and step edges between thickness regions act as pinning sites.
