Finding the right term: Retrieving and exploring semantic concepts in astronomical vocabularies

Information Processing & Management, 2010
Astronomy, like many domains, already has several sets of terminology in general use, referred to as controlled vocabularies. For example, the keywords for tagging journal articles, or the taxonomy of terms used to label image files. These existing vocabularies can be encoded into skos, a W3C proposed recommendation for representing vocabularies on the

GpDL: A Spatially Aggregated Data Layout for Long-Term Astronomical Observation Archive

2018
A great number of excellent astronomical academic achievements are built on historical observation data. So long-term astronomical observation archive has great significance for astronomical research. At the observation site, data from different sky areas shot in a consecutive time period are stored in one disk.

A long-term geophysical and astronomical dataset: sunspot counting from 1610 to 2021

2021
<p>Solar activity is an essential factor for the study of many aspects of the geophysical and astronomical sciences. A very simple measure of solar activity is counting sunspots using telescopes. This task can be done even with small telescopes since the Sun is apparently a very large and luminous star.

Long-term statistics of meteorological data at the Maidanak Astronomical Observatory

Research in Astronomy and Astrophysics
Abstract The meteorological condition of the atmosphere was studied for the new 4-meter telescope planned to be installed at the Maidanak observatory. This article presents an analysis of certain meteorological parameters measured for the Maidanak Observatory in 2013-2024 and general information about them.

Long-term solar wind variations in the 20th–23rd solar activity cycles according to radio-astronomical data

Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2011
We analyzed the variations of the interplanetary plasma parameters, obtained from radio astronomical observations of scintillations of cosmic radio sources during four 11-year cycles of solar activity, from 1966 to present. It is shown that the state of the interplanetary plasma permanently changes in conformity with cyclicity in the solar activity. In

Stability of the long period terms in the La2011 astronomical solution.

2012
The obtention of an accurate astronomical solution for the orbital motion of the Earth in the Solar System is an essential step for the elaboration of geological time scales that are based on the correlation of sedimentary cycles with insolation variations on the Earth's surface.

Long-Term Sequences of Solar Observations in the Radio Band at the Mountain Astronomical Station for 60 Years

Geomagnetism and Aeronomy, 2019
The history of solar observations in the radio range at the Mountain Astronomical Station, State Astronomical Observatory, Russian Academy of Sciences (MAS RAS) since 1957 is outlined. The stages of the formation and development of radio observations are described, from the creation of a radio interferometer of the meter wavelength range to modern ...
