Evidence for Itinerant Ferromagnetic Flat Bands Producing Large Transverse Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Itinerant ferromagnetic flat bands are demonstrated in GdCo5 with a high Curie temperature of 940K, a stacked honeycomb–kagome lattice, through angle‐resolved photoemission spectroscopy and magneto‐thermoelectric measurements. These topological flat bands generate large Berry curvaturte, producing gigantic anomalous Nernst effect with record‐high ...

A Brief Review of Unsupervised Machine Learning Algorithms in Astronomy: Dimensionality Reduction and Clustering

open access: yesUniverse
This review investigates the application of unsupervised machine learning algorithms to astronomical data. Unsupervised machine learning enables researchers to analyze large, high-dimensional, and unlabeled datasets and is sometimes considered more ...

Montage: a grid portal and software toolkit for science-grade astronomical image mosaicking

open access: yes, 2009
Montage is a portable software toolkit for constructing custom, science-grade mosaics by composing multiple astronomical images. The mosaics constructed by Montage preserve the astrometry (position) and photometry (intensity) of the sources in the input ...

Self‐Powered Flexible Triboelectric‐Gated Ion‐Gel Transistor for Neuromorphic Tactile Sensing and Human Activity Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A fully flexible ion‐gel‐gated graphene‐channel transistor driven by a triboelectric nanogenerator enables self‐powered tactile sensing and synaptic learning. Mimicking spike‐rate‐dependent plasticity, the device exhibits frequency‐selective potentiation and depression, supporting rate‐coded neuromorphic computation even under flex.

The Analysis of the Relation between virgo and leo in a Verse of Nezami [PDF]

open access: yesمتن شناسی ادب فارسی, 2013
Nezami Ganjavi is one of the famous figures of Persian poetry whose poetry has been considered to need commentary and interpretation for a long time. One of the reasons of complexity in his poems is the precise usage of astronomical terms and imagery ...

Deconvolution under Poisson noise using exact data fidelity and synthesis or analysis sparsity priors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper, we propose a Bayesian MAP estimator for solving the deconvolution problems when the observations are corrupted by Poisson noise. Towards this goal, a proper data fidelity term (log-likelihood) is introduced to reflect the Poisson ...

When Poor Exciton Dissociation Limits Photocurrents in Organic Solar Cells: Why Low Offset Non‐Fullerene Acceptor Blends Can't Be Efficient

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The energetic offset between the donor and the acceptor components in organic photoactive layers is central to the tradeoff between photovoltage and photocurrent losses. This Perspective covers the most important issues surrounding this topic in non‐fullerene acceptor blends, from the difficulty of accurately determining state energies and driving ...

Bayesian Estimation of Past Astronomical Frequencies, Lunar Distance, and Length of Day From Sediment Cycles

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Astronomical cycles recorded in stratigraphic sequences offer a powerful data source to estimate Earth's axial precession frequency k, as well as the frequency of rotation of the planetary perihelia (gi) and of the ascending nodes of their orbital planes

An Improved Infrared/Visible Fusion for Astronomical Images

open access: yesAdvances in Astronomy, 2015
An undecimated dual tree complex wavelet transform (UDTCWT) based fusion scheme for astronomical visible/IR images is developed. The UDTCWT reduces noise effects and improves object classification due to its inherited shift invariance property.
