Uncovering the Origin of Efficiency Roll‐Off in TADF OLEDs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
OLEDs based on thermally activated delayed fluorescent (TADF) materials often suffer from a severe drop in efficiency at high brightness levels. This work presents a technique to uncover the source of this efficiency drop, and quantifies the exciton‐exciton and exciton‐polaron annihilation processes responsible for efficiency losses in our TADF OLEDs ...

Formation of low-mass condensations in the molecular cloud cores via thermal instability

open access: yes, 2011
The low-mass condensations (LMCs) have been observed within the molecular cloud cores. In this research, we investigate the effect of isobaric thermal instability (TI) applied for forming these LMCs.

Elucidating the Role of Surface Ligands on the Oxidative Etching of Au Bipyramids During Photothermia Using Liquid Cell Transmission Electron Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Gold bipyramids can act as efficient plasmonic nanoheaters, but they often reshape during laser heating. This study shows that oxygen nanobubbles drive oxidative etching and that surface ligands control stability. CTAB‐ and citrate‐coated particles blunt and lose optical performance, whereas polystyrene sulfonate preserves shape and heating by ...

A pulsar-based time-scale from the International Pulsar Timing Array [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2019
We have constructed a new time-scale, TT(IPTA16), based on observations of radio pulsars presented in the first data release from the International Pulsar Timing Array (IPTA).

Chirality and Organization of Adsorbates Modify Surface Phonon Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Chirality and molecular organization are shown to influence surface phonon dynamics in gold films. Time‐resolved Joule heating measurements reveal that ordered homochiral monolayers increase the Debye temperature and disordered layers reduce it, while ordered racemic controls have no effect.

External photoevaporation of circumstellar discs constrains the time-scale for planet formation [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2019
Planet-forming circumstellar discs are a fundamental part of the star formation process. Since stars form in a hierarchical fashion in groups of up to hundreds or thousands, the UV radiation environment that these discs are exposed to can vary in ...
