Analysis procedure of gamma ray astronomy spark chamber data

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1972
Abstract An analysis procedure is presented for the measurement of gamma ray arrival directions in spark chambers. This method is based on the conception that data are not used for measurement once multiple scattering has overtaken the reading error. The relevant formalism is presented and lower limits of the possible angular resolution are given.

Introduction to Data Analysis Systems for Astronomy

1985
A proposal is made for a scheme within which off-line, general purpose astronomical image processing software systems may be described. This scheme may be helpful when attempting to compare the features and shortcomings of various systems which are currently available or being planned.

Application of graphical interaction to the analysis of radio astronomy data

Proceedings of the 7th annual conference on Computer graphics and interactive techniques - SIGGRAPH '80, 1980
A highly interactive computer graphics system has been implemented for the display and analysis of high-resolution radio images which are produced by the Very Large Array radio telescope being built by the National Radio Astronomy Observatory. Some of the users of this system are in-house scientists who use the system routinely.

Robust Data Analysis Methods in Gravitational Wave Astronomy

Gravitational Wave astronomy has made remarkable progress since the first detection of GW150914, with over 300 detections, to date. Future ground- and space-based observatories, including third-generation detectors (Einstein Telescope (ET), Cosmic Explorer (CE)) and missions like the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA), will achieve unprecedented

Non-linear data analysis and statistical techniques in solar radio astronomy

1995
We have discussed some tools from nonlinear dynamics which may help to analyze transient phenomena, such as solar bursts. The structure function known from turbulence theory is an appropriate method to find out some scaling behavior of fluctuations in time.

Exploratory Analysis of Light Curves: A Case-Study in Astronomy Data Understanding

2014
Data acquisition in Biology and Astronomy has seen unprecedented growth in volume since the turn of the century. It will not be an exaggeration to state that the needs of these two sciences are pushing computer science research to new frontiers. The focus of this paper is astronomy, which since inception of Virtual Observatory and commissioning of ...
