Gold bipyramids can act as efficient plasmonic nanoheaters, but they often reshape during laser heating. This study shows that oxygen nanobubbles drive oxidative etching and that surface ligands control stability. CTAB‐ and citrate‐coated particles blunt and lose optical performance, whereas polystyrene sulfonate preserves shape and heating by ...

Shape: A 3D Modeling Tool for Astrophysics
We present a flexible interactive 3D morpho-kinematical modeling application for astrophysics. Compared to other systems, our application reduces the restrictions on the physical assumptions, data type and amount that is required for a reconstruction of ...

The splitting of double-component active asteroid P/2016 J1 (PANSTARRS) [PDF]
We present deep imaging observations, orbital dynamics, and dust tail model analyses of the double-component asteroid P/2016 J1 (J1-A and J1-B). The observations were acquired at the Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC) and the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope ...

The freshwater discharge into the Adriatic Sea revisited
The present study reconstructs the river discharge climatology and its respective historical series for all rivers of the Adriatic Sea with averaged climatological daily river discharge above 1 m3s−1, to reach a better representation of the Adriatic ...

Chirality and Organization of Adsorbates Modify Surface Phonon Dynamics
Chirality and molecular organization are shown to influence surface phonon dynamics in gold films. Time‐resolved Joule heating measurements reveal that ordered homochiral monolayers increase the Debye temperature and disordered layers reduce it, while ordered racemic controls have no effect.

Determining the Parameters of Massive Protostellar Clouds via Radiative Transfer Modeling
A one-dimensional method for reconstructing the structure of prestellar and protostellar clouds is presented. The method is based on radiative transfer computations and a comparison of theoretical and observed intensity distributions at both millimeter ...

Revisiting a Quasar Microlensing Event Towards AGN J1249+3449
The gravitational wave event GW190521 seems to be the only BH merger event possibly correlated with an electromagnetic counterpart, which appeared about 34 days after the GW event.
