Maser emission in planetary nebulae [PDF]
Stars at the top of the asymptotic giant branch (AGB) can exhibit maser emission from molecules like SiO, H2O and OH. As the star evolves to the planetary nebula phase, mass-loss stops and ionization of the envelope begins, making the masers disappear progressively.

Instabilities and the Formation of Small-Scale Structures in Planetary Nebulae [PDF]
Recent observations have revealed the presence of a variety of small-scale ``micro-structures'' in Planetary Nebulae images. I discuss numerical hydrodynamics models of planetaries and outline the formation and growth of instabilities that may be seen in these models.
