An ASW campaign model.

open access: green, 1980
To enhance insight into a war at sea, a large-scale, aggregated, and highly flexible model of the ASW campaign is offered. The model was designed, first and foremost, to examine the change in the marginal effectiveness of friendly ASW forces due to changes of force level, force mix, and force employment strategies.

Physiology and cell biology of acupuncture observed in calcium signaling activated by acoustic shear wave [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This article presents a novel model of acupuncture physiology based on cellular calcium activation by an acoustic shear wave (ASW) generated by the mechanical movement of the needle.

How endo- is endo-?: surface sterilization of delicate samples: a Bryopsis (Bryopsidales, Chlorophyta) case study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In the search for endosymbiotic bacteria, elimination of ectosymbionts is a key point of attention. Commonly, the surface of the host itself or the symbiotic structures are sterilized with aggressive substances such as chlorine or mercury derivatives ...

An infrared measurement of chemical desorption from interstellar ice analogues [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In molecular clouds at temperatures as low as 10 K, all species except hydrogen and helium should be locked in the heterogeneous ice on dust grain surfaces. Nevertheless, astronomical observations have detected over 150 different species in the gas phase

Interactions of adsorbed CO$_2$ on water ice at low temperatures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present a computational study into the adsorption properties of CO$_2$ on amorphous and crystalline water surfaces under astrophysically relevant conditions.

Octahedral Tilting in ACu3Ru4O12 (A=Na,Ca,Sr,La,Nd) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The perovskite-like compounds ACu3Ru4O12 (A=Na,Ca,Sr,La,Nd) are studied by means of density functional theory based electronic structure calculations using the augmented spherical wave (ASW) method.

Morphological change during crystallization of thin amorphous solid water films on Ru(0001) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The isothermal crystallization process of thin amorphous solid water (ASW) films on Ru(0001) has been investigated in real time by simultaneously employing helium atom scattering, infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy, and isothermal temperature ...

The effects of methanol on the trapping of volatile ice components [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The evaporation of icy mantles, which have been formed on the surface of dust grains, is acknowledged to give rise to the rich chemistry that has been observed in the vicinity of hot cores and corinos.
