Dripping from a faucet is studied, where by cutting diagonally the tip breaks the cylindrical symmetry. We measured long dripping time series recorded with a laser-beam apparatus and continuous change in drop position using a high-speed camera. It is found that the added degree of freedom produces a transversal oscillation of a pending drop, which ...

Asymmetric extractions for an asymmetric malocclusion
Indian Journal of Oral Health and Research, 2016Some patients with Class II subdivision malocclusions have Class I characteristics on one side and Class II characteristics on the other. The resulting asymmetric occlusal relationship complicates orthodontic treatment. Traditionally, four premolars are extracted in such cases to achieve a bilateral Class I molar relation which needs patient compliance

The direct addition of amine N-H bonds across an unsaturated carbon-carbon linkage gives fast and highly atom-economical access to amines. This review provides an overview of the most effective stereoselective methods using various catalyst systems based on alkali, alkaline earth, and transition metals, as well as enzymatic and organocatalytic ...

Asymmetric Research on Asymmetric Wars
International Studies Review, 2015Great Powers, Small Wars: Asymmetric Conflict Since 1945. By Deriglazova Larisa. Baltimore, MD: Johns Hopkins University Press, 2014. 408 pp., $60 hardcover (ISBN 978-1-421-41412-6). The share of international relations (IR) studies that focus on asymmetric relations does not match the share of international interactions that are asymmetric.

While the superficial expression of oceanic ridges is generally symmetric, their deeper roots may be asymmetric. Based on a surface wave tomographic, we construct a global cross section parallel to the tectonic equator. VS indicate a difference between the western and eastern flanks of the three major oceanic rift basins.

An Asymmetric Counter to the Asymmetric Threat
American Foreign Policy Interests, 2013That a deeply religious nation like the United States should have such difficulty addressing the religious challenges of the post–cold war world is more than a little ironic.

Asymmetric Cell Divisions and Asymmetric Cell Fates
Annual Review of Cell and Developmental Biology, 2009The regulation of self-renewal, cell diversity, and differentiation can occur by modulating symmetric and asymmetric cell divisions. Remarkably, asymmetric cell divisions can arise through multiple processes in which molecules in the cytoplasm and nucleus, as well as template “immortal” DNA strands, can segregate to one daughter cell during cell ...

Heterogeneous asymmetric catalysis
Pure and Applied Chemistry, 2004Abstract Examples of enantioselective catalysts, including homogeneous supported catalysts and biphasic liquid/liquid, are described and compared. In the case of asymmetric hydride transfer, polythiourea was proven to be more efficient for ruthenium-catalyzed reduction of arylketones, although the iridium complexes gave rise to higher ee

Asymmetric Separators and Asymmetric Separator Spaces
Advanced Materials Research, 2013This paper introduces the asymmetric separator, which is a class of binary relation. They can separate and merge things by their properties. It illustrates the operation of asymmetric separator, the asymmetric separator nucleus of general binary relation and the asymmetric separators determined by set or function.
