Access regulation with asymmetric termination costs [PDF]

open access: yes
In many telecommunications markets incumbent providers enjoy a demand-side advantage over any entrant. However, market entrants may enjoy a supply-side advantage over the incumbent, since they are more efficient or operate on innovative technologies ...

Lone‐Pair‐Induced Lattice Distortion in Lead‐Free Hybrid Perovskites for High‐Performance Nanogenerators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A lead‐free tin‐based hybrid perovskite is designed in which stereochemically active lone‐pair electrons on tin distort the crystal lattice and break its symmetry. Blended into a flexible polymer, the material converts pressure into electricity at milliwatt‐scale power density and continues working far below freezing, powering a commercial wristwatch ...

Is state fiscal policy asymmetric over the business cycle? [PDF]

open access: yes
A number of stabilizers are thought to mute the business cycle. One key stabilizer is federal fiscal policy. The federal budget surplus tends to rise during economic booms and fall in downturns, helping to stabilize consumers’ disposable income and ...

Reaction‐Time pH Stabilization by Poly(acrylic acid) with Ethanol‐Mediated Growth Control for Efficient Hydrothermal Sb2(S,Se)3 Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Poly(acrylic acid) acts as a reaction‐time pH buffer during hydrothermal Sb2(S,Se)3 growth through its COOH/COO‐ equilibrium. When combined with ethanol‐regulated growth, this buffering strategy reduces Sb‐O related surface disorder, improves local electronic uniformity and carrier collection, and increases the champion solar‐cell efficiency to 10.25%,

Addressing class imbalance in bankruptcy prediction: a cost-aware and explainable machine learning approach

open access: yesCogent Business & Management
Corporate bankruptcy prediction is important for financial risk management, credit assessment, and early warning systems, yet it remains challenging under extreme class imbalance and asymmetric misclassification costs.

Conditional conservatism and cost of capital. [PDF]

open access: yes
We empirically test the association between conditional conservatism and cost of equity capital. Conditional conservatism imposes stronger verification requirements for the recognition of economic gains than economic losses, resulting in earnings that ...

Beyond Thin Film Limits—Superhard and Hydrogen‐Free Amorphous Carbon Coatings With Over 100 µm Thickness

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
For the first time, an extreme‐thick laser‐arc PVD ta‐C (DLC) coating exceeding 100 µm is demonstrated, opening up new possibilities for ultra‐high load bearing capacity. This superhard amorphous carbon architecture combines >50% sp3 bonding, robust adhesion and self‐supporting performance, shielding substrates from plastic flow under extreme contact ...

Self‐Powered, Ultra‐Sensitive InGaAs/ITO Nanowire Radial Junction Infrared Photodiode for Low Flux Imaging at Room Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports a self‐powered InGaAs nanowire photodetector achieving single‐photon‐level sensitivity in the shortwave infrared at non‐cryogenic temperatures. The device demonstrates high‐speed imaging capabilities even under extremely low‐flux conditions.

Investigating the effect of competition on cost stickiness in Iran\'s banking industry [PDF]

open access: yesبرنامه‌ریزی و بودجه
Recent research findings regarding cost behavior have shown that costs do not change in proportion to changes in sales. In other words, while costs increase with rising sales, they do not decrease proportionately with falling sales.

Empirical Analysis of Asymmetric Cost Behavior

open access: yes, 2018
The dominant cost behavior model described in current management accounting textbooks is based on the classification of costs into fixed costs and variable costs. Although this cost behavior model provides insights about how costs behave in relation to the volume of production, it does not take into account managers’ role in cost management as ...
