Of Titans and Terraria: Exploring and Conceptualising Philanthropic Foundations Through the Lens of Metaphors

open access: yesJournal of Philanthropy, Volume 31, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Addressing ongoing calls for a more robust understanding of philanthropic foundations, this paper uses metaphor analysis to map and analyse analogical metaphors on foundations—metaphors that make a direct comparison between philanthropic foundations and another domain—put forward in academic and non‐academic discourse.

A study on the design of asymmetric gears for application in gear pumps

open access: yes, 2020
This thesis presents a study on the design of spur gears with asymmetric teeth in external gear pump applications. A model is generated for asymmetric gears and for the specified gear pairs, Hertz contact stresses are determined by using analytical approach. The instantaneous flowrate equation is also derived.

Beyond the Ivory Tower? Security Studies Scholarship in Denmark and Norway

open access: yesScandinavian Political Studies, Volume 49, Issue 2, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines how academic national security expertise in Denmark and Norway translates into public visibility and engagement opportunities. While a largely US‐centred literature on the practitioner–academic gap in national security identifies persistent obstacles to policy relevance—often locating responsibility either within the ...

Nonhuman situational enmeshments—How participants build temporal infrastructures for ChatGPT

open access: yesJournal of Linguistic Anthropology, Volume 36, Issue 1, May 2026.
Abstract This paper investigates how participants recruit Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT as interactional co‐participants depending on their temporal enmeshment within an interactional flow. Using Charles Goodwin's co‐operative action framework, we analyze video data of human–AI interaction to trace the temporal structures established by ...

Photosynthetic Recovery Dynamics Reveal Declining Vegetation Functional Resilience in Tropical Ecosystems

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 7, 16 April 2026.
Abstract Ecosystem resilience, the ability to recover from disturbances, is crucial for sustaining ecosystem health and functionality. Traditional greenness‐based resilience measures often overlook early physiological stress. Here, we use solar‐induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF), an indicator for photosynthesis, to assess global vegetation ...
