The Incidence of Sensorineural Hearing Loss Diagnoses in People with and without Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Parkinson's disease (PD) and sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) are both prevalent conditions among older adults. Although increasing number of studies have investigated SNHL as a risk factor for PD, it is not well known how diagnosed PD affects the likelihood of SNHL diagnosis.

Pros and cons of a bone-conduction device implanted in the worse hearing ear of patients with asymmetric hearing loss

open access: yesFrontiers in Audiology and Otology
PurposeBone-conduction devices can be considered a viable treatment option for patients experiencing asymmetric hearing loss (AHL), especially those with severe to profound hearing loss (HL) present in one ear.

Preventing Hearing Loss Caused by Chemical (Ototoxicity) and Noise Exposure [PDF]

open access: yes
"Millions of workers are exposed to noise in the workplace every day and when uncontrolled, noise exposure may cause permanent hearing loss. Research demonstrates exposure to certain chemicals, called ototoxicants, may cause hearing loss or balance ...

Cortical Cholinergic Pathway Degeneration Reflects Cognitive Impairment and Dementia in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Cognitive impairment is a prevalent and debilitating feature of Parkinson's disease (PD). Increasing evidence from postmortem and in vivo positron emission tomography imaging studies supports cholinergic dysfunction in PD. There is, however, little evidence regarding the influence of the structural integrity of cortical cholinergic ...

On the analyzing of bifurcation properties of the one‐dimensional Mackey–Glass model by using a generalized approach

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
The goal of this work is to look at how a nonlinear model describes hematopoiesis and its complexities utilizing commonly used techniques with historical and material links. Based on time delay, the Mackey–Glass model is explored in two instances. To offer a range, the relevance of the parameter impacting stability (bifurcation) is recorded.
