Finite element analyses of short circuit forces in power transformers with asymmetric conditions

2008 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2008
Short circuit forces may be destructive in a power transformer. Therefore, accurate evaluation of such forces is essential during the design and manufacturing phase. Otherwise, overestimated values may result in oversized, and in general, non-optimal design. The analytical methods are usually fast and easy to apply.

Asymmetrical Short-Circuit Response of the Wound Rotor Brushless Doubly-Fed Generator in Wind Turbines

2020 Asia Energy and Electrical Engineering Symposium (AEEES), 2020
This paper studies the dynamic response of the wound rotor brushless doubly-fed generator (BDFG) in asymmetrical fault conditions in the wind turbine. Physical behaviors under asymmetrical short-circuits are described by generalized analytical solutions and the relationship between flux linkage vectors is derived.

A new compact band‐pass filter based on an asymmetric short‐circuited spurline resonator

Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2010
AbstractIn this letter, a new compact two‐pole band‐pass filter (BPF) based on an asymmetric short‐circuited spurline resonator is presented. The filter is modeled by means of a new multimodal circuit model for a microstrip to three‐line‐microstrip cross, which allows a rigorous study of a very generic new family of filters.

Short-circuit current of doubly fed induction generator under partial and asymmetrical voltage drop

Renewable Energy, 2016
Abstract The doubly fed wind turbine is the main equipment of wind generators. The fault transient characteristics of doubly fed induction generators (DFIG) have elicited the attention of many scholars. However, the short-circuit current (SCC) of power grid-contained DFIG under asymmetrical voltage drop cannot be accurately analyzed.

Short-Circuit Current Reduction in Dual Three-Phase Permanent-Magnet Machine by Asymmetric Pitch for High-Reliability Applications

IEEE transactions on energy conversion
This paper proposes a short-circuit current (SCC) reduction method for dual three-phase (DTP) permanent-magnet machines by asymmetric pitch technique. The conventional DTP winding configuration with symmetric pitch is used as a benchmark.

A method of analysing asymmetrical short-circuits on power systems including several synchronous machines

Electric Power Systems Research, 1982
Abstract This paper contains a new method for analysing symmetrical and asymmetrical faults at any point in a power system, which may include several synchronous machines connected together with transmission systems. The method is developed by using the symmetrical components, the axial components and a modified compensation theorem.

Asymmetrical winding configuration to reduce inrush current with appropriate short-circuit current in transformer

IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 2005
A method for transformer design with an asymmetric winding configuration to reduce the inrush current with appropriate voltage regulation and short-circuit current is proposed. Differing from the traditional symmetric winding structure in transformer design, this method can provide the high inrush equivalent inductance and suitable leakage inductance ...

Short-Circuit Electromagnetic Force Distribution Characteristics in Transformer Winding Transposition Structures

IEEE transactions on magnetics, 2020
For continuous or spiral windings which feature multiple continuously transposed conductors (CTC) wound in parallel, the transposition structure is commonly used to suppress circulation between conductors. This introduces a local asymmetry in transformer
