Local fitting with a power basis
Local polynomial modelling can be seen as a local fit of the data against a polynomial basis. In this paper we extend this method to the power basis, i.e. a basis which consists of the powers of an arbitrary function.

Estimation in discretely observed diffusions killed at a threshold [PDF]
Parameter estimation in diffusion processes from discrete observations up to a first-hitting time is clearly of practical relevance, but does not seem to have been studied so far.

Predicting Atomic Charges in MOFs by Topological Charge Equilibration
An atomic charge prediction method is presented that is able to accurately reproduce ab‐initio‐derived reference charges for a large number of metal–organic frameworks. Based on a topological charge equilibration scheme, static charges that fulfill overall neutrality are quickly generated.

This study develops a tractable, closed-form expression for the asymptotic variance of the coefficient of variation (CV) estimator under a reparameterized Birnbaum–Saunders (BirSau) distribution. Using the method of moments, we derive analytical formulas

Multiphase printable organohydrogels with tunable microstructures are developed to control molecular transport pathways for immiscible cargo. The tortuosity and domain size of the colloidal phases are tuned by adjusting temperature and shear during processing, which enables the tailoring of diffusion kinetics due to different transport pathways.

Reducing Personalization Time and Energy Cost While Walking Outdoors with a Portable Exosuit
Rapid Real‐World Optimization! An AF‐based human‐in‐the‐loop optimization strategy rapidly personalizes a portable hip extension exosuit for incline walking. Real‐time Bayesian optimization of assistive force significantly reduces metabolic energy—up to 16.2%—while converging in just 3 min 24 s.

Synaptic vesicle (SV) motion and exocytosis dynamics in the presynaptic terminals of live neurons are intimately linked to synaptic transmission during neuronal activity. In this work, it is revealed that, during electrical stimulation, SVs located farther from their fusion sites exhibit greater straightness and experience larger mean forces directed ...

Likelihood Inference In Parallel Systems Regression Models With Censored Data [PDF]
The work in this thesis is concerned with the investigation of the finite sample performance of asymptotic inference procedures based on the likelihood function when applied to the regression model based on parallel systems with censored data.

Super-delta: a new differential gene expression analysis procedure with robust data normalization
Background Normalization is an important data preparation step in gene expression analyses, designed to remove various systematic noise. Sample variance is greatly reduced after normalization, hence the power of subsequent statistical analyses is likely ...
