Reducing variance in univariate smoothing
A variance reduction technique in nonparametric smoothing is proposed: at each point of estimation, form a linear combination of a preliminary estimator evaluated at nearby points with the coefficients specified so that the asymptotic bias remains ...

Achieving Chemical Accuracy in Cyclodextrin Host–Guest Binding via Integrative Atomistic Modelling
A generalizable computational framework is presented that overcomes long‐standing challenges in modelling cyclodextrin host‐guest binding by integrating host‐specific force‐field refinement, equilibrium enhanced sampling, nonequilibrium alchemical switching, convolution sampling of independent works, rigorous finite‐size corrections, and QM‐based ...

Estimating total species richness: Fitting rarefaction by asymptotic approximation
Estimating the number of species in a community is important for assessments of biodiversity. Previous species richness estimators are mainly based on nonparametric approaches.

Scrambling‐Enhanced Quantum Battery Charging in Black Hole Analogues
By employing a black‐hole‐analog quantum battery constructed from a position‐dependent XY model, its dynamical behavior is investigated through a quench of the scrambling parameter. It is systematically quantified that how the simulated scrambling improves key performance metrics‐namely, stored energy, peak power, and charging time‐thereby offering a ...

Ultrafast Multilevel Switching and Synaptic Behavior in a Planar Quantum Topological Memristor
Dry‐transferred Bi2Te3 layers enable a planar quantum topological memristor framework. In‐plane topological surface states facilitate ultrafast & low‐power operations. Coexisting analog and digital modes support current‐controlled multilevel states. PQTM exhibits 105 s retention, 103 cycles endurance, and reproducibility across 24 devices.

For a fixed time, t, and a horizon time, b, the probability of default (PD) measures the probability that an obligor, that has paid his/her credit until time t, runs into arrears not later that time t+b.

The critical pore spacing—approximately twenty times the pore radius—required to minimize electric field coupling is determined via finite element analysis. A multi‐layered Al2O3/Au/Si3N4 nanopore structure fabricated by helium ion beam lithography is proposed, enabling quantitative analysis of the target analyte while mitigating inter‐pore crosstalk ...

Estimation and Simultaneous Confidence Bands for Fixed-Effects Panel Data Partially Linear Models
In this paper, we study the estimation and simultaneous confidence band (SCB) problems for fixed-effects panel data partially linear models. We remove the fixed effects and then obtain estimators for the parametric and nonparametric components, which do ...

We tackle the problem of template estimation when data have been randomly deformed under a group action in the presence of noise. In order to estimate the template, one often minimizes the variance when the influence of the transformations have been ...
