Heterogeneity in Food Price Inflation Convergence Across the EU: Evidence From Club Dynamics and Structural Breaks

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines food price inflation rate convergence among EU27 Member States from 2005 to 2024, focusing on structural breaks, external shocks, and regional disparities. Using panel unit root tests and club convergence analysis, the findings reveal no overall convergence but identify multiple convergence clubs.

High Resolution Direct Detection and Position Determination of Sources With Intermittent Emission

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper presents our research findings on the direct detection and position determination (DDPD) problem, which is to estimate the positions and the total number of multiple sources with intermittent emission, using the received signals intercepted by

Efficient GMM Estimation of Dynamic Panel Data Models Where Large Heterogeneity May Be Present [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper addresses the many instruments problem, i.e. (1) the trade-off between the bias and the efficiency of the GMM estimator, and (2) inaccuracy of inference, in dynamic panel data models where unobservable heterogeneity may be large.

Deep Learning‐Assisted Design of Mechanical Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
This review examines the role of data‐driven deep learning methodologies in advancing mechanical metamaterial design, focusing on the specific methodologies, applications, challenges, and outlooks of this field. Mechanical metamaterials (MMs), characterized by their extraordinary mechanical behaviors derived from architected microstructures, have ...

Minimum Mutual Information and Non-Gaussianity through the Maximum Entropy Method: Estimation from Finite Samples

open access: yesEntropy, 2013
The Minimum Mutual Information (MinMI) Principle provides the least committed, maximum-joint-entropy (ME) inferential law that is compatible with prescribed marginal distributions and empirical cross constraints.

On the auxiliary particle filter

open access: yes, 2007
In this article we study asymptotic properties of weighted samples produced by the auxiliary particle filter (APF) proposed by pitt and shephard (1999).

Elastic Fast Marching Learning from Demonstration

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article presents Elastic Fast Marching Learning (EFML), a novel approach for learning from demonstration that combines velocity‐based planning with elastic optimization. EFML enables smooth, precise, and adaptable robot trajectories in both position and orientation spaces.

Geometric Estimation of Multivariate Dependency

open access: yesEntropy, 2019
This paper proposes a geometric estimator of dependency between a pair of multivariate random variables. The proposed estimator of dependency is based on a randomly permuted geometric graph (the minimal spanning tree) over the two multivariate samples ...

Current‐Limiting Control Strategies in Variable Capacitance Electrostatic Energy Harvesters

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work introduces control strategies for electrostatic energy harvesters that balance energy yield with current limitations. Two approaches are explored: traditional peak‐triggered controls, and newly developed quadrature controls, which use smooth voltage profiles.

Bandwidth Selection in Nonparametric Regression with Large Sample Size

open access: yesProceedings, 2018
In the context of nonparametric regression estimation, the behaviour of kernel methods such as the Nadaraya-Watson or local linear estimators is heavily influenced by the value of the bandwidth parameter, which determines the trade-off between bias and ...
