On the Asymptotic Distribution of Ridge Regression Estimators Using Training and Test Samples

open access: yesEconometrics, 2020
The asymptotic distribution of the linear instrumental variables (IV) estimator with empirically selected ridge regression penalty is characterized. The regularization tuning parameter is selected by splitting the observed data into training and test ...

Laser‐Synthesized Amorphous PdSe2‐x Nanoparticles: A Defect‐Rich Platform for High‐Efficiency SERS, Photocatalysis, and Photothermal Conversion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Using femtosecond ablation, we show that an ordered, stoichiometric crystalline PdSe2 target can be controllably converted into a stable, disordered, non‐stoichiometric, and highly functional amorphous nanomaterial, PdSe2−x${\rm PdSe}_{2-x}$. The obtained nanoparticles offer significant advantages over conventional planar plasmon‐free substrates due to

Eigenvalue asymptotic of Robin Laplace operators on two-dimensional domains with cusps

open access: yes, 2010
We consider Robin Laplace operators on a class of two-dimensional domains with cusps. Our main results include the formula for the asymptotic distribution of the eigenvalues of such operators.

Asymptotic curved normal distribution

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Research, 2019
Here we introduce a new class of skew normal distribution as a generalization of the extended skew curved normal distribution of Kumar and Anusree (J. Statist. Res., 2017) and investigate some of its important statistical properties. The location-scale extension of the proposed class of distribution is also defined and discussed the estimation of its ...

Flexible, Integrated‐Porous Microneedle Sensor for Biofluid Sampling and On‐Site Biomarker Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A paper‐integrated porous PGA microneedle array patch capable of both high strength and absorption capacity is proposed. With an image‐processing system, an optimized colorimetric sensor achieves a low limit of detection of 0.09 mm in cholesterol.

Delta method, asymptotic distribution

open access: yesWIREs Computational Statistics, 2023
AbstractThe delta method for deriving asymptotic distributions is presented. Assume interest lies in where is an unknown parameter and is a known function. The delta method allows to immediately obtain an approximation of the distribution of the plug‐in estimator through the asymptotic distribution ofwheneverthe asymptotic distribution of is known and ...

Terahertz Volume Plasmon‐Polariton Modulation in All‐Dielectric Hyperbolic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
THz volume plasmon‐polariton (VPP) propagation through plasmon‐based hyperbolic metamaterials, made of alternating layers of doped and undoped III‐V semiconductors. Abstract The development of plasmonics and related applications in the terahertz range faces limitations due to the intrinsic high electron density of the standard metals.

Reducing Personalization Time and Energy Cost While Walking Outdoors with a Portable Exosuit

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Rapid Real‐World Optimization! An AF‐based human‐in‐the‐loop optimization strategy rapidly personalizes a portable hip extension exosuit for incline walking. Real‐time Bayesian optimization of assistive force significantly reduces metabolic energy—up to 16.2%—while converging in just 3 min 24 s.

Random waves on $\mathbb{T}^3$: nodal area variance and lattice point correlations

open access: yes, 2017
We consider the ensemble of random Gaussian Laplace eigenfunctions on $\mathbb{T}^3=\mathbb{R}^3/\mathbb{Z}^3$ (`$3d$ arithmetic random waves'), and study the distribution of their nodal surface area.
