Tau Aggregate Imaging and Transcriptomics of Alzheimer's Disease Brain at Different Stages of Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The protein aggregates and gene expression in the middle temporal gyrus (MTG) and somatosensory cortex (SOM) of the postmortem brains of 13 Alzheimer's disease patients were studied in detail, revealing that small hyperphosphorylated tau aggregates increase with Braak stage driven by microglial inflammation.

Viscosity method for random homogenization of fully nonlinear elliptic equations with highly oscillating obstacles

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis, 2022
In this article, we establish a viscosity method for random homogenization of an obstacle problem with nondivergence structure. We study the asymptotic behavior of the viscosity solution uε{u}_{\varepsilon } of fully nonlinear equations in a perforated ...

Scale transition and enforcement of RVE boundary conditions in second-order computational homogenization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Formulation of the scale transition equations coupling the microscopic and macroscopic variables in the second-order computational homogenization of heterogeneous materials and the enforcement of generalized boundary conditions for the representative ...

Micropolar Modelling of Periodic Cauchy Materials Based on Asymptotic Homogenization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
A micropolar-based asymptotic homogenization approach for the anal- ysis of composite materials with periodic microstructure is proposed. The macro descriptors are directly linked to both suitable perturbation functions, obtained via asymptotic ...

Inclusive Leadership and CEO Gender: The Role of Tenure and Education in an Emerging Economy

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gender inequality in corporate leadership remains a critical challenge, particularly in emerging economies where institutional constraints shape access to top executive positions. This study examines firm performance differences between women and men CEOs in Ecuador, focusing on the moderating roles of tenure and formal education.

Taxon‐dependent multisite species turnover in fragmented habitats: comparing zeta diversity across birds, butterflies, and cursorial hunting spiders

open access: yesEcography, EarlyView.
Habitat fragmentation alters species diversity and reshapes community composition. However, conventional pairwise approaches to compositional variation (i.e. beta diversity metrics) do not explicitly characterize how species sharing or turnover change with the number of habitat patches.

Locally periodic unfolding method and two-scale convergence on surfaces of locally periodic microstructures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper we generalize the periodic unfolding method and the notion of two-scale convergence on surfaces of periodic microstructures to locally-periodic situations.

Multiscale homogenization of a class of nonlinear equations with applications in lubrication theory and applications

open access: yesJournal of Function Spaces and Applications, 2011
We prove a homogenization result for monotone operators by using the method of multiscale convergence. More precisely, we study the asymptotic behavior as ε→0 of the solutions uε of the nonlinear equation div⁡aε(x,∇uε)=div⁡bε, where both aε and bε ...

Short-time diffusive fluxes over membrane receptors yields the direction of a signalling source

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2023
An essential ability of many cell types is to detect stimuli in the form of shallow chemical gradients. Such cues may indicate the direction that new growth should occur, or the location of a mate.

Hole transporting materials in inverted flexible perovskite solar cells: Challenges, progress, and perspectives

open access: yesFlexMat, EarlyView.
The buried interface is a critical determinant of efficiency and stability in inverted flexible perovskite solar cells (IFPSCs). This Perspective summarizes advances in hole transporting materials for IFPSCs, including polymeric, small‐molecule, inorganic, and hybrid systems, and discusses the prospects and feasibility of emerging molecular design and ...
