The reliability of liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage tanks is an important factor that must be considered in their structural design. Concrete is a core component of LNG storage tanks, and the geometric uncertainty of concrete aggregate material has a ...

Observed butterfly richness was highest in moderately protected areas. During the dry season, vegetation productivity increased butterfly richness while human population density reduced it. Moderately protected areas supported high butterfly abundance and a high proportion of host‐specialist species.

Homogenization results for chemical reactive flows through porous media [PDF]
This paper deals with the homogenization of a nonlinear problem mod-elllng chemica! reactive flows through periodically perforated domains. The chemical reactions take place on the walls of the porous médium.

Homogenization methods and macro-strength of composites [PDF]
A multi-phase periodic composite subjected to inhomogeneous shrinkage or temperature deformation and prescribed mechanical loads is considered. The asymptotic homogenisation is applied for calculation of homogenized macrostresses. A non-local approximate

Second order homogenization of quasi-periodic structures
The paper develops a general framework to derive the effective properties of quasi-periodic elastic medium. By using the asymptotic expansion method, the solution is expanded to the second order by solving a sequence of minimization problems.

Abstract Increasing evidence supports associations between various elasmobranch species and estuarine habitats, particularly during early life stages. However, with substantial knowledge gaps surrounding spatial habitat use and trophic ecology of estuary‐associated species in Australia, we cannot reliably assess the functional importance of these areas

Algorithmic Monoculture and Its Critics
ABSTRACT Algorithmic decision‐making is replacing idiosyncratic human judgment in domains such as hiring, lending, and criminal justice. This shift promises increased consistency, but many scholars worry that it can go too far. They warn of the dangers of algorithmic monoculture, in which all decisions across a domain are made using a single algorithm.
