Asymptotic Normality of Nonparametric Tests for Independence [PDF]

open access: yesThe Annals of Mathematical Statistics, 1972
Asymptotic normality of linear rank statistics for testing the hypothesis of independence is established under fixed alternatives. A generalization of a result of Bhuchongkul [I) is obtained both with respect to the conditions concerning the orders of magnitude of the score functions and with respect to the smoothness conditions on these functions.

On the denominators of harmonic numbers. IV

open access: yesComptes Rendus. Mathématique, 2022
Let $\mathcal{L}$ be the set of all positive integers $n$ such that the denominator of $1+1/2+\cdots +1/n$ is less than the least common multiple of $1, 2, \dots , n$.

Bivariate Extreme Statistics, II

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2012
We review the current state of statistical modeling of asymptotically independent data. Our discussion includes necessary and sufficient conditions for asymptotic independence, results on the asymptotic independence of statistics of interest, estimation

Contingency Table Analysis and Inference via Double Index Measures

open access: yesEntropy, 2022
In this work, we focus on a general family of measures of divergence for estimation and testing with emphasis on conditional independence in cross tabulations.

Extremes of Perturbed Bivariate Rayleigh Risks

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal, 2014
We establish first an asymptotic expansion for the joint survival function of a bivariate Rayleigh distribution, one of the most popular probabilistic models in engineering.

Tails of the Moments for Sums with Dominatedly Varying Random Summands

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
The asymptotic behaviour of the tail expectation ?E(Snξ)α?{Snξ>x} is investigated, where exponent α is a nonnegative real number and Snξ=ξ1+…+ξn is a sum of dominatedly varying and not necessarily identically distributed random summands, following a ...

Asymptotic independence and a network traffic model [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Probability, 2002
The usual concept of asymptotic independence, as discussed in the context of extreme value theory, requires the distribution of the coordinatewise sample maxima under suitable centering and scaling to converge to a product measure. However, this definition is too broad to conclude anything interesting about the tail behavior of the product of two ...

On testing dependence between time to failure and cause of failure when causes of failure are missing. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2007
The hypothesis of independence between the failure time and the cause of failure is studied by using the conditional probabilities of failure due to a specific cause given that there is no failure up to certain fixed time.

Delay-Independent Asymptotic Stability in Monotone Systems [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 2015
Monotone systems comprise an important class of dynamical systems that are of interest both for their wide applicability and because of their interesting mathematical properties. It is known that under the property of quasimonotonicity time-delayed systems become monotone, and some remarkable properties have been reported for such systems.

A discussion on significance indices for contingency tables under small sample sizes. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Hypothesis testing in contingency tables is usually based on asymptotic results, thereby restricting its proper use to large samples. To study these tests in small samples, we consider the likelihood ratio test (LRT) and define an accurate index for the ...
