Asymptotic limit of the compressible Navier-Stokes system on domains with rough boundaries [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
In this paper, we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the compressible Navier-Stokes system considered on a sequence of spatial domains, whose boundaries exhibit fast oscillations with amplitude and characteristic wave length proportional to a small parameter. Imposing the full-slip boundary conditions we show that in the asymptotic limit the

Spatial and Temporal Heterogeneity of Fish Spawning Dynamics on the West Florida Shelf During Fall

open access: yesFisheries Oceanography, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Identifying spawning areas for economically and ecologically important fishes is critical for fisheries conservation and ecosystem‐based management. We used genetic barcoding to identify fish eggs collected across the West Florida Shelf (WFS) during September of 2013, 2014, and 2019.

Extremely Fast Maximum Likelihood Estimation of High‐Order Autoregressive Models

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We consider the problem of exact maximum likelihood estimation of potentially high‐order (p>50$$ p>50 $$) autoregressive models. We propose an extremely fast coordinate‐wise algorithm for fitting autoregressive models. This fast algorithm exploits several properties of the negative log‐likelihood when parameterised in terms of partial ...

Enhanced consensus control architecture for autonomous platoon utilizing multi‐agent reinforcement learning

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Coordinating a platoon of connected and automated vehicles significantly improves traffic efficiency and safety. Current platoon control methods prioritize consistency and convergence performance but overlook the inherent interdependence between the platoon and the the non‐connected leading vehicle.

Testing for Threshold Effects in the Presence of Heteroskedasticity and Measurement Error With an Application to Italian Strikes

open access: yesOxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Volume 87, Issue 3, Page 659-689, June 2025.
Abstract We address the issue of testing for threshold nonlinearity in the conditional mean in the presence of conditional heteroskedasticity. We propose a supremum Lagrange multiplier approach to test a linear ARMA‐GARCH model versus a TARMA‐GARCH model.

A simplified approach for assessing the effects of temperature change on the stability of consumer–resource interactions

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2025, Issue 5, May 2025.
Temperature regulates the physiology and behaviour of organisms. Thus, changing temperatures impact the dynamics of species interactions. Considering that consumer–resource interactions underpin ecological communities, the impacts of warming on the stability of consumer–resource interactions have been extensively studied.

Global sensitivity analysis of integrated assessment models with multivariate outputs

open access: yesRisk Analysis, EarlyView.
Abstract Risk assessments of complex systems are often supported by quantitative models. The sophistication of these models and the presence of various uncertainties call for systematic robustness and sensitivity analyses. The multivariate nature of their response challenges the use of traditional approaches.

Reinforcement learning for optimal control of stochastic nonlinear systems

open access: yesAIChE Journal, Volume 71, Issue 7, July 2025.
Abstract A reinforcement learning (RL) approach is developed in this work for nonlinear systems under stochastic uncertainty. A stochastic control Lyapunov function (SCLF) candidate is first constructed using neural networks (NNs) as an approximator to the value function, and then a control policy designed using this SCLF is developed to ensure the ...

Atypical Beta Oscillatory Dynamics Are Related to Poor Procedural Learning in Children With Developmental Coordination Disorder

open access: yesDevelopmental Science, Volume 28, Issue 4, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Procedural learning difficulties are commonly reported in children with developmental coordination disorder (DCD), yet the neural basis of this impairment remains unclear. This study addressed this gap by examining the correlation between cortical oscillatory activity and procedural learning of a sequence of finger movements in children with ...

Diversity in Stable GANs: A Systematic Review of Mode Collapse Mitigation Strategies

open access: yesEngineering Reports, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2025.
We provide a methodical understanding of the mode collapse issue in GANs for image‐to‐image translation, covering its root causes, implications, effectiveness of existing mitigation strategies and evaluation metrics while identifying open challenges.
