Asymptotic forms of convolved line profiles

Analytical properties of the convolution integral of a Lorentzian profile with a quasistatic van der Waals profile are derived from a result due to Stormberg (1980). Far from line centre the sum of the individual line profiles is a good approximation to the convolution integral.
