Asymptotic Properties of Discrete Unitary Transforms

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 1979
A method for studying the asymptotic behavior of discrete transformations is developed using numerical quadrature theory. This method allows a more convenient examination of the correlation properties of common unitary transforms for large block sizes. As a practical result of this method it is shown that the discrete cosine transform is asymptotically

Asymptotic Properties of Functions of Spacings

Theory of Probability & Its Applications, 1990
Let \(\{X_ n,n\geq 1\}\) be i.i.d. r.v. with distribution function F(x) and density f(x). Let \(X_{n1}\leq X_{n2}\leq...\leq X_{nn}\) be the associated order statistics, and \[ T_ n=n^{-1}\sum^{n- k}_{j=1}h(nk^{-1}(X_{n,j+k}-X_{n,j})) \] for some real-valued function h(x). Under some regularity conditions imposed on f(x) and h(x), the statistic \(T_ n\)

Asymptotic Properties of the Electromagnetic Field

Journal of Mathematical Physics, 1964
From the integral form of the general solution for the retarded electromagnetic field of a localized charge-current distribution, the asymptotic field is shown to have the behavior Fμν = Nμν/R + IIIμν/R2 + 2Jμν/R3, where the coefficients satisfy Nμνkν = 0, IIIμνkν = Akμ, and kμkν = 0.

Asymptotic Properties of Random Polytopes

2015
Random polytopes have constituted some of the central objects of stochastic geometry for more than 150 years. They are in general generated as convex hulls of a random set of points in the Euclidean space. The study of such models requires the use of ingredients coming from both convex geometry and probability theory. In the last decades, the study has
