This study explores how information processing is distributed between brains and bodies through a codesign approach. Using the “backpropagation through soft body” framework, brain–body coupling agents are developed and analyzed across several tasks in which output is generated through the agents’ physical dynamics.

Penalty Strategies in Semiparametric Regression Models
This study includes a comprehensive evaluation of six penalty estimation strategies for partially linear models (PLRMs), focusing on their performance in the presence of multicollinearity and their ability to handle both parametric and nonparametric ...

Local polynomial regression with truncated or censored response [PDF]
Truncation or censoring of the response variable in a regression model is a problem in many applications, e.g. when the response is insurance claims or the durations of unemployment spells.

Efficient inference about the tail weight in multivariate Student $t$ distributions
We propose a new testing procedure about the tail weight parameter of multivariate Student $t$ distributions by having recourse to the Le Cam methodology. Our test is asymptotically as efficient as the classical likelihood ratio test, but outperforms the

Nonparametric Slope Estimators for Fixed-Effect Panel Data [PDF]
In panel data the interest is often in slope estimation while taking account of the unobserved cross sectional heterogeneity. This paper proposes two nonparametric slope estimation where the unobserved effect is treated as fixed across cross section. The

Divergence based Robust Estimation of the Tail Index through An Exponential Regression Model
The extreme value theory is very popular in applied sciences including Finance, economics, hydrology and many other disciplines. In univariate extreme value theory, we model the data by a suitable distribution from the general max-domain of attraction ...
