Real‐time by‐example texture synthesis and filtering using local statistics exchange

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Real‐time by‐example texture synthesis is used in interactive virtual worlds to generate the appearance of an unbounded surface from an exemplar texture with as few repetitions as possible. Currently, leading real‐time methods rely on a tiling and blending scheme which is known to synthesize well texture patterns with little spatial ...

A Simple Grid‐Maps Pipeline: Restructured, Accelerated and Upgraded

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Grid maps – spatially arranged small multiples – are a powerful tool to show complex geospatial data. Meulemans et al. (2020) introduced a pipeline for computing high‐quality grid maps that are shaped roughly according to their containing geographic outlines.

Optimized and Aligned Anisotropic Monte Carlo Sampling Patterns

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Path tracing uses Monte Carlo integration to solve the rendering equation by evaluating the integrand at random sampling points. The convergence rate of the error can be significantly improved by using correlated instead of random sampling, especially on smooth integrands.

Cold plasma treatment for oral lichen planus: a retrospective case collection and proposal of a new clinical score

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.
Summary Background and objectives Oral lichen planus (OLP) is a chronic autoimmune mucosal disease with malignant potential and limited treatment options. This study evaluated the long‐term efficacy and safety of cold atmospheric plasma (CAP) therapy in therapy‐refractory OLP and introduced the novel Lichen Planus Severity Score (LPSS).

How iteration frequencies affect project uncertainty and risk ‐ An empirically elaborated model

open access: yesDecision Sciences, EarlyView.
Abstract Iterative approaches have gained prominence in new product development (NPD) projects in response to increasingly dynamic and turbulent business environments. In this article, we study how iteration frequency—that is, the rhythm at which development teams revisit and test comprehensive products—affects an NPD project's uncertainty and risk. We
