Singularly Perturbed Elliptic Dirichlet Problem with Three-band Boundary Layer

open access: yesМоделирование и анализ информационных систем, 2017
. A singularly  perturbed elliptic problem with Dirichlet boundary conditions  is considered in the case of multiple roots of the degenerate equation.  A three-zone boundary layer arises in the vicinity of the  domain  boundary with a different scale of ...

High frequency homogenisation for elastic lattices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
A complete methodology, based on a two-scale asymptotic approach, that enables the homogenisation of elastic lattices at non-zero frequencies is developed. Elastic lattices are distinguished from scalar lattices in that two or more types of coupled waves

Optimal Grazing Exclusion Duration to Enhance Soil Carbon Sequestration in Degraded Grasslands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Across China, grazing exclusion reaches the national mean soil organic carbon recovery benchmark sooner in high‐MAP regions (> 500 mm), but recovery is much slower where MAP < 300 mm. Scaling this strategy to 70% of China's degraded grasslands would sequester about 1.52 Pg of soil carbon over 10 years—roughly 17% of annual global fossil‐fuel emissions.

Beyond the Non‐Hermitian Skin Effect: Scaling‐Controlled Topology from Exceptional‐Bound Bands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We establish a novel mechanism for topological transitions in non‐Hermitian systems that are controlled by the system size. Based on a new paradigm known as exceptional‐bound (EB) band engineering, its mechanism hinges on the unique critical scaling behavior near an exceptional point, totally unrelated to the well‐known non‐Hermitian skin ...

Unearthing the intersections: positivity bounds, weak gravity conjecture, and asymptotic safety landscapes from photon-graviton flows

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
We compute the asymptotic safety landscape stemming from ultraviolet-complete photon-graviton flows in a field theoretic setup, and we confront it with the weak gravity conjecture and, for the first time, with positivity bounds.

All‐in‐One Underwater Quality Evaluation Metamaterial With Mechanical Robustness, Sound Attenuation, and Diffuse Reflection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this work, a bioinspired all‐in‐one underwater quality evaluation metamaterial, combining sound attenuation, diffuse reflection, and mechanical robustness, is proposed based on jumping spider locomotion and human skeletal biomechanics. Meanwhile, a CNN‑driven quality evaluation framework is established for theoretically dimension‐reduced ...

Multi‐Tissue Omics Analysis Uncovers Translational Regulation Underlying Complex Traits in Pigs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrated multi‐omics across pig breeds and tissues reveals key principles of post‐transcriptional translational regulation and their contribution to trait formation. A gene network framework integrating transcriptomic and translatomic data is developed and applied to elucidate the genetic basis of meat production, offering new insights into mammalian

Asymptotic Analysis of SPTA-Based Algorithms for No-Wait Flow Shop Scheduling Problem with Release Dates

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2014
We address the scheduling problem for a no-wait flow shop to optimize total completion time with release dates. With the tool of asymptotic analysis, we prove that the objective values of two SPTA-based algorithms converge to the optimal value for ...

Tri‐Layer Solid‐State Nanopore Arrays with Crosstalk Suppression for High‐Throughput, Femtomolar‐Level Biosensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The critical pore spacing—approximately twenty times the pore radius—required to minimize electric field coupling is determined via finite element analysis. A multi‐layered Al2O3/Au/Si3N4 nanopore structure fabricated by helium ion beam lithography is proposed, enabling quantitative analysis of the target analyte while mitigating inter‐pore crosstalk ...

Asymptotic approximation for the solution to a semi-linear elliptic problem in a thin aneurysm-type domain

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2017
A semi-linear boundary-value problem with nonlinear Robin boundary conditions is considered in a thin 3D aneurysm-type domain that consists of thin curvilinear cylinders that are joined through an aneurysm of diameter 𝓞(ε). Using the multi-scale analysis,
