Asymptotic scales-asymptotic algebras

Integral Transforms and Special Functions, 1998
J.F. Colombeau and other authors have introduced algebras of generalized functions in order to solve differential problems which have no solution in spaces of distributions. These algebras are based on properties of polynomial growth with respect to a parameter.

ASYMPTOTIC FREEDOM VERSUS ASYMPTOTIC FINITENESS

International Journal of Modern Physics A, 1991
Gauge theories based upon a direct product G1×G2 of two gauge theories are considered. We examine the general features of models where the theory based upon G1 is asymptotically finite and that based upon G2 is asymptotically free. A simple model in which the product theory is asymptotically finite is presented.

Asymptotic Expansions

Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 1956
1. Introduction. Let a1 a2, …, am be a set of real non-negative numbers and let1.1 P(x) = a1x + a2x2 + … + amxm (am ≠ 0).Many combinatorial problems can be reduced to the study of numbers Bn generated by1.2.Some problems of this type were treated by Touchard (7), Jacobsthal (3), Chowla, Herstein, Moore and Scott (1; 2), and the present authors (4).

Asymptotic Remainders

SIAM Journal on Mathematical Analysis, 1994
Summary: It is shown that the remainders in a variety of asymptotic series can be estimated uniformly by the same integral.

Likelihood Asymptotics

Scandinavian Journal of Statistics, 2001
The paper gives an overview of modern likelihood asymptotics with emphasis on results and applicability. Only parametric inference in well‐behaved models is considered and the theory discussed leads to highly accurate asymptotic tests for general smooth hypotheses.

Asymptotically Simple Does Not Imply Asymptotically Minkowskian.

Physical Review Letters, 1978
An example is given of a space-time which satisfies the conditions for an asymptotic region which is not '' as large'' as that of Minkowski space-time.

Optimal Lossless Data Compression: Non-Asymptotics and Asymptotics

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2014
This paper provides an extensive study of the behavior of the best achievable rate (and other related fundamental limits) in variable-length strictly lossless compression. In the non-asymptotic regime, the fundamental limits of fixed-to-variable lossless

Asymptotic Controllability and Robust Asymptotic Stabilizability

SIAM Journal on Control and Optimization, 2001
Summary: This paper deals with asymptotically controllable systems for which there exists no smooth stabilizing state feedback. To investigate the robustness asymptotic stabilization property, a new class of hybrid feedbacks (with a continuous component and a discrete one) is introduced: the hybrid patchy feedbacks.
