Asymptotics and functional form of correlators in the XX - spin chain of finite length

open access: yes, 2002
We verify the functional form of the asymptotics of the spin - spin equal - time correlation function for the XX-chain, predicted by the hypothesis of conformal invariance at large distances and by the bosonization procedure.

Unrolling of Syngonium podophyllum: Functional Anatomy, Morphology and Modelling of Its Peltate Leaves

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The unrolling of the peltate leaves in Syngonium podophyllum is analyzed and quantified (left‐hand side to center). These measurements serve to verify a mathematical model for leaf unrolling based on the model used in Schmidt (2007). An additional formula for obtaining a layer mismatch from a prescribed radius is derived.

Continuous and pulsed epidemiological models for onchocerciasis with implications for eradication strategy

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2018
Onchocerciasis is an endemic disease in parts of sub-Saharan Africa. Complex mathematical models are being used to assess the likely efficacy of efforts to eradicate the disease; however, their predictions have not always been borne out in practice.

Asymptotic normality

open access: yesMetrika, 1970
The object of this paper is to show that — under certain regularity conditions — a dominated family of probability measures with Euclidean parameter space behaves approximately like a family of normal distributions if each probability measure is the independent product of a great number of identical components.

Developments in the Khintchine-Meinardus probabilistic method for asymptotic enumeration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
A theorem of Meinardus provides asymptotics of the number of weighted partitions under certain assumptions on associated ordinary and Dirichlet generating functions.

Asymptotics of the deuteron form factors in the nucleon model and JLab experiments

open access: yes, 2008
Using the instant form dynamics of Poincar\'e invariant quantum mechanics and the modified relativistic impulse approximation proposed previously we calculate asymptotics of electromagnetic form factors for the deuteron considered as two--nucleon system.

Programmable Reconfiguration of Hybrid 4D Chiral Metamaterials via Mechanical and Thermal Stimuli

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A class of hybrid chiral mechanical metamaterials is designed to achieve programmable reconfiguration through soft networks, hinges, and bilayer joints integrated with rigid units. Responsive to mechanical and thermal stimuli, these structures exhibit large volume changes, tunable deformation pathways, and both positive and negative thermal expansion ...

On the boundary value problems for ordinary differential equations with isolated singularity

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2005
We consider some two-point boundary value problems for second order o.d.e. with strong singularity. The asymptotics of the solutions at the singular point are given. The existence and uniqueness of the solutions of those problems are prooved.

Asymptotics for hitting times

open access: yes, 2005
In this paper we characterize possible asymptotics for hitting times in aperiodic ergodic dynamical systems: asymptotics are proved to be the distribution functions of subprobability measures on the line belonging to the functional class {6pt} {-3mm}(A ...
