Asymptotics for the Spectrum of a Thin Film Equation in a Singular Limit
In this paper the linear stability properties of the steady states of a no-slip lubrication equation are studied. In the physical context, these steady states correspond to configurations of droplets that arise during the late-phase dewetting process ...

The role of the curvature of a surface in the shape of the solutions to elliptic equations
Abstract We prove the uniqueness and nondegeneracy of the critical point of positive, semistable solutions of −Δu=f(u)$-\Delta u=f(u)$ with Dirichlet boundary conditions for a class of star‐shaped domains on the sphere and in the hyperbolic plane satisfying a geometric condition.

Renormalisation of random hierarchial systems [PDF]
This thesis considers a number of problems which are related to the study of random fractals. We define a class of iterations (which we call random hierarchical systems) of probability distributions, which are defined by applying a random map to a set of

Asymptotics of the whispering gallery-type in the eigenproblem for the Laplacian in a revolutional domain diffeomorphic to a solid torus [PDF]
We consider the eigenproblem for the Laplacian inside a three-dimensional revolutional domain diffeomorphic to a solid torus and construct asymptotic eigenvalues and eigenfunctions (quasimodes) of the whispering gallery-type.

Graphical abstract of the (q,τ)$$ \left(q,\tau \right) $$‐deformed kernel framework for quantum‐inspired learning and biomedical signal analysis ABSTRACT This paper introduces a weighted (q,τ)$$ \left(q,\tau \right) $$‐deformed Gram matrix framework for quantum‐inspired learning systems, with particular emphasis on applications in biomedical signal ...

Asymptotics for the spectrum of a thin film equation in a singular limit [PDF]
In this paper the linear stability properties of the steady states of a no-slip lubrication equation are studied. The steady states are configurations of droplets and arise during the late-phase dewetting process under the influence of both destabilizing

Spreading Speed for a Vector‐Borne Disease System on Non‐Coincident Straight Infinite Cylinders
ABSTRACT Vector‐borne diseases remain an increasing global public health concern. In this work, we investigate the spreading speed of vector‐borne disease via a four‐component reaction–diffusion system posed on non‐coincident straight infinite cylinders, which stands for an unconventional spatial configuration.

Sturm-Liouville problems with retarded argument and a finite number of transmission conditions
The main goal of the present paper is to study the asymptotic behaviour of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of a discontinuous boundary-value problem with retarded argument with a finite number of transmission conditions.

Sharp estimates for the Laplacian torsional rigidity with negative Robin boundary conditions
Abstract Motivated by pioneering works of Bandle and Wagner, given a bounded Lipschitz domain Ω⊂Rd$\Omega \subset \mathbb {R}^d$ with d⩾3$d\geqslant 3$, we consider the Robin–Laplacian torsional rigidity τα(Ω)$\tau _\alpha (\Omega)$ with negative boundary parameter α$\alpha$ and we show that sharp inequalities for τα(Ω)$\tau _\alpha (\Omega)$ hold if ...

Eigenvalues of an elliptic system
We describe the spectrum of a non-self-adjoint elliptic system on a finite interval. Under certain conditions we find that the eigenvalues form a discrete set and converge asymptotically at infinity to one of several straight lines.
