VISPec‐DNet: Multi‐Modal Decision Fusion of Hyperspectral and Red–Green–Blue Images for Plastic Waste Detection and Sorting

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
A multi‐modal imaging framework combining red–green–blue and hyperspectral near‐infrared data is presented for automated plastic waste sorting. The proposed VISPec‐DNet decision‐level fusion approach improves polymer identification and object detection accuracy across common plastic types.

Immersive Technologies in Engineering Education: A Systematic Review Through the Lens of Constructive Alignment and Bloom's Taxonomy

open access: yesComputer Applications in Engineering Education, Volume 34, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The engineering profession faces global challenges that require graduates with strong practical and cognitive skills, yet traditional curricula often lack real‐world and interdisciplinary preparation. Immersive Reality (IR) technologies, including Virtual, Augmented, and Mixed Reality, are increasingly explored in engineering education to ...

Spectral entropy variability of intraoperative electrocorticography predicts outcome after epilepsy surgery in people with focal cortical dysplasia

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 67, Issue 5, Page 2117-2130, May 2026.
Abstract Objective Epilepsy surgery in people with focal cortical dysplasia (FCD) requires accurate removal of all epileptogenic tissue, and outcome is difficult to predict. We explored whether spectral entropy, a fast computable electroencephalographic (EEG) feature, could estimate epileptic activity in intraoperative electrocorticography (ioECoG) and

Inroads into epilepsy through high‐frequency oscillations: Achievements and benchmark areas for improvement

open access: yesEpilepsia, Volume 67, Issue 5, Page 2099-2116, May 2026.
Abstract High‐frequency oscillations (HFOs) were discovered more than 20 years ago, and since then they have been studied intensively in the context of epilepsy. HFOs encompass a broad spectrum of oscillations, typically ranging from 80 Hz to several kHz, that include both normal and pathological oscillations, documented in people with epilepsy and ...

Optimizing Electric Vehicle Charging Scheduling With Deep Q Networks and Long Short‐Term Memory‐Based Electricity and Battery State of Charge Prediction

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 5, Page 2583-2599, May 2026.
Schematic diagram showing the proposed approach for EV charging/discharging. ABSTRACT The number of electric vehicles (EVs) on the road is rising as a result of recent advancements in EV technology, and EVs are important to the smart grid economy. Demand response schemes involving electric vehicles have the potential to dramatically reduce the cost of ...
