Reducing the vibration of bearing units of electric vehicle asynchronous traction motors

Journal of Vibration and Control, 2020
The impact of the accuracy class of bearings, rotational speed, load, clearances, and fits on the vibration levels of electric motor bearing units is investigated. The ways to reduce the vibrations of mechanical origin are offered. The boundary vibration levels of asynchronous motors limited by vibration levels of 40 dB at a frequency of 5 Hz and 80 ...

The temperature effect on the performance of a traction asynchronous motor

Russian Electrical Engineering, 2011
The faults and damages of the asynchronous motors currently used in the traction rolling stock are reviewed. It is shown that a significant number of failures in operation are due to the excessive temperature in the stator coil and how it affects the mechanical characteristics and the traction performance of the asynchronous motor windings.

3-phase asynchronous motors for traction drives on BR

Proceedings of the 1991 IEEE/ASME Joint Railroad Conference, 2002
The simplicity and robustness of the three-phase asynchronous motor make it attractive for traction applications. Attempts to use it go back to the turn of the century. It was, however, the appearance of the microprocessor and high-power GTO that made the three-phase package attractive for general applications.

Power Converters for Feeding Asynchronous Traction Motors of Single-Phase AC Vehicles

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1980
Asynchronous induction motors are very well suited to powerful traction drives. For electric locomotives and motor coaches with single-phase supply, a power conversion on the vehicle is necessary. Three different types of static power converters for this application are described.

A Combined Model Flux Observer for Vector Control of Traction Asynchronous Motors

2007 7th International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, 2007
Vector control induction motor drives are particularly sensitive to the variation of motor parameters. As a consequence, the field orientation is missed, leading to substantial degradation of performance. The performance of traction motors can be even more degraded by the substantial core loss due to their high supply frequency.

New Aspects in Optimal Design of Asynchronous Motors used in Light Railway Traction

2020 International Symposium on Power Electronics, Electrical Drives, Automation and Motion (SPEEDAM), 2020
The motors driving light railway traction vehicles need a lot active and reactive electrical energy, consequently the exploitation costs are high. That is why by the research we carried out and the results presented here we aim at emphasizing that these costs can be minimized by an optimal design.

Development of Vector Control Structures for Traction Systems with Six-Phase Asynchronous Motors

2021 International Conference on Electromechanical and Energy Systems (SIELMEN), 2021
Research and development of traction systems with multiphase motors, including six-phase motors becomes an efficient way to improve the performance of urban electric passenger vehicles. For this purpose, the basic components of the six-phase asynchronous motor traction system are identified and the structural elements of the power circuit of the six ...
