Locomotion and Posture in Ateles geoffroyi and Ateles paniscus

Folia Primatologica, 1978
The locomotor and postural behavior of Ateles geoffroyi and Ateles paniscus was studied in Panama and Surinam. Ateles locomotion can be divided into five patterns on the basis of limb usage: quadrupedal walking and running, suspensory locomotion, climbing, bipedalism and leaping.

Susceptibility of Ateles fusciceps, ateles geoffroy and Cebu capucinus monkeys to Plasmodium vivax

Atelicity and anticausativization

Color Vision in the Spider Monkey (Ateles )

Folia Primatologica, 1982
Spectral sensitivity and color vision were investigated in 2 spider monkeys (Ateles) using a forced-choice discrimination paradigm. The increment-threshold spectral sensitivity functions of both animals were very similar to those of normal human trichromats; all had three regions of peak sensitivity located at 440–460, 520–540, and 600–620 nm. However,

Rapid facial mimicry in Platyrrhini: Play face replication in spider monkeys (Ateles fusciceps, Ateles hybridus, and Ateles paniscus)

American Journal of Primatology
AbstractRapid facial mimicry (RFM), the rapid and automatic replication of facial expression perceived, is considered a basic form of empathy and was investigated mainly during play. RFM occurs in Catarrhini (Old World primates), but it is not still demonstrated in Platyrrhini (New World primates).

Ateles

2012
