Second stability in the ATF torsatron
Physical Review Letters, 1989Access to the MHD second stability regime has been achieved in the ATF torsatron. Experimental {beta} values {beta}{sub 0}{le}3%, with fast ions contributing {approx}(1/3 of the pressure at high {beta}) are well above the theoretical transition value ({beta}{sub {ital c}}{approx}1.3% for ideal modes) required to reach this regime.

<div class="htmlview paragraph">Nylon is used as a material in the design of various components of automatic transmissions. Pump rotor guides and thrust washers are among components designed from nylon. Nylon must be compatible with automatic transmission fluid (ATF). An immersion test using nylon strips in various test fluids was developed.

The data system for the advanced toroidal facility (ATF) is a logical extension of the system used for the Impurity Studies Experiment ISX-B. Based on the ISX-B concepts and hardware, it extends them to provide support for long-pulse or steady-state operation of ATF.

Data management for the Advanced Toroidal Facility (ATF), a stellarator located at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, is provided by DMG, a locally developed, VAX-based software system. DMG is a data storage and retrieval software system that provides the user interface to ATF raw and analyzed data. Data are described in terms of data models and data types

Several electron cyclotron heating (ECH) experiments have been completed on the Advanced Toroidal Facility (ATF) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) under a variety of operating conditions and launch polarizations. ECH power is launched using a polarization‐controlled beam launcher and microwave detectors are used to measure absorption of first ...
