Stabilization of Cu Species in UiO‐66 Metal–Organic Framework for CO2‐to‐Methanol: Insights From Operando X‐ray and Electron Microscopy Studies

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This study reveals how a zirconium‐based metal–organic framework (UiO‐66) stabilizes copper species during CO2 hydrogenation to methanol. Operando X‐ray spectroscopy, electron microscopy, and theory show that zinc promotes highly dispersed copper and suppresses particle growth, while the framework dynamically responds to reaction intermediates.

Nests in trees are as good as or better than cliffs for two formerly persecuted, primarily cliff nesting eagles in Spain: a cautionary tale in defining the habitat of range‐restricted or threatened species

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
In the late‐20th century, golden and Bonelli's eagles suffered population declines on the Iberian Peninsula, partly due to human persecution. Habitat assessments – especially for Bonelli's eagles – always found or assumed strong associations with cliffs that provided nesting sites.

From the predator to the prey: a case study of the vulnerability of Harmonia axyridis to aggressive competitors

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
The level of aggressiveness of an individual is a factor that shapes intraguild predation (IGP) interactions. In Nabis americoferus, high aggressiveness leads to an increase in attack rate and IGP against Harmonia axyridis. Moreover, the absence of extraguild prey seems to exacerbate IGP. In docile N.

Updated Chorotypes of Terrestrial Vertebrates Shed New Light on Zoogeographical Regions in China

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Chorotype represents a fundamental concept for identifying groups of species that share similar distribution patterns. However, the last comprehensive revision of animal chorotypes in China was performed more than a decade ago. Here, we update the chorotype classifications for 1040 species and propose an updated zoogeographical regionalization scheme ...
