Effect of lesion characteristics on outcome of directional coronary atherectomy [PDF]
Directional coronary atherectomy, a new transluminal procedure for treatment of obstructive lesions in coronary arteries by excision and removal of tissue, was performed on 447 lesions in 382 procedures.

Coronary Artery Perforation After Shockwave Intravascular Lithotripsy
Severely calcified coronary lesions remain a challenge in current percutaneous coronary interventions. Shockwave intravascular lithotripsy (Shockwave Medical, Inc., Santa Clara, California) is an alternative for rotational atherectomy in such lesions ...

ABSTRACT Background Despite recommendations in international guidelines, Intracoronary pressure wire assessment (PWA) utilization remains limited in clinical practice. This study aims to describe (i) trends of PWA during Percutaneous coronary interventional (PCI), (ii) factors that predict its application, and (iii) association with in‐hospital ...

Calcified coronary lesions are notorious for posing technical difficulty during angioplasty. Fortunately, more devices are available to tackle coronary calcifications. However, there remain difficult cases whereby a single modality is insufficient.

Coronary perforation during insertion of a long stent in a severely calcified lesion
We reported a case that the insertion of a 48‐mm‐long stent in a calcified coronary lesion after rotational atherectomy led to stent stacking and S‐shaped flection, resulting in longitudinal coronary perforation without stent inflation.

Basic assumptions of nursing care for a patient after rotational atherectomy
The increase in the average age of patients contributes to the occurrence of more cases of severe calcification of the coronary arteries. Advanced pathologies are less susceptible to classical therapeutic methods, such as coronary angioplasty.

ABSTRACT Background Rotational atherectomy (RA) has undergone considerable technical modernization in recent years. This study evaluated whether RA performed in the contemporary era was associated with superior cardiovascular outcomes compared with the traditional era. Aims To compare the clinical characteristics and cardiovascular outcomes of patients

Rotational Atherectomy: A Contemporary Appraisal [PDF]
Rotational atherectomy (RA) is an atheroablative technology that enables percutaneous coronary intervention for complex, calcified coronary lesions. RA works on the principle of ‘differential cutting’ and preferentially ablates hard, inelastic, calcified

Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of calcified coronary arteries is associated with poor outcomes. Poorly modified calcified lesion hinders the stent delivery, disrupts drug-carrying polymer, impairs drug elution kinetics and results in under ...

Feasibility and safety of orbital atherectomy in uncrossable lesions
To the Editor, Orbital atherectomy (OA) is a technique designed to treat non-dilatable calcified lesions in coronary arteries using the Diamondback 360 device (Abbott, United States), which consists of a 1.25 mm diamond-coated crown that enables ...
