Passive Shape‐Adaptive Fluidic Interface for Enhanced Skin‐Sensor Coupling in Wearable Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents a passive fluidic interface for wearable biosensors that adapts to static and dynamic body shape changes to maintain consistent skin contact. Flexible, fluid‐filled pouches redistribute pressure from high‐load areas to regions requiring improved contact, enhancing signal quality and comfort in a compact, low‐energy design for ...

Terrace-like structure in the above-threshold ionization spectrum of an atom in an IR+XUV two-color laser field

open access: yes, 2013
Based on the frequency-domain theory, we investigate the above-threshold ionization (ATI) process of an atom in a two-color laser field with infrared (IR) and extreme ultraviolet (XUV) frequencies, where the photon energy of the XUV laser is close to or ...

Relationship between intact HIV-1 proviruses in circulating CD4+ T cells and rebound viruses emerging during treatment interruption. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Combination antiretroviral therapy controls but does not cure HIV-1 infection because a small fraction of cells harbor latent viruses that can produce rebound viremia when therapy is interrupted. The circulating latent virus reservoir has been documented

Fully 3D‐Printed Wave‐Wound Electromagnetic Motors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work presents the first fully 3D‐printed wave‐wound electromagnetic motors, which are created using conductive nanoparticle inks, carbon‐filled nylon polymers, and surface mount components. These motors can achieve a stall torque of 7.62N·mmA−1$7.62 \nobreakspace N{\cdot }mm A^{-1}$ and efficiency of 28.2 %, which approaches the performance of ...

A route towards the fabrication of large-scale and high-quality perovskite films for optoelectronic devices

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Halide perovskite materials have been extensively explored for their unique electrical, optical, magnetic, and catalytic properties. Most notably, solar cells based on perovskite thin films have improved their power conversion efficiency from 3.8% to ...

The influence of climate and hydrological variables on opposite anomaly in active-layer thickness between Eurasian and North American watersheds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This study not only examined the spatiotemporal variations of active-layer thickness (ALT) in permafrost regions during 1948-2006 over the terrestrial Arctic regions experiencing climate changes, but also identified the associated drivers based on ...

Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

Relationship between latent and rebound viruses in a clinical trial of anti-HIV-1 antibody 3BNC117. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
A clinical trial was performed to evaluate 3BNC117, a potent anti-HIV-1 antibody, in infected individuals during suppressive antiretroviral therapy and subsequent analytical treatment interruption (ATI).

Tax Policy and Farm Organization

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) introduced substantial changes to the tax code, affecting farms' organizational incentives. This study examines farms' responses to the TCJA along extensive and intensive margins, focusing on organizational and labor expense adjustments.
