Assessing differences among elasmobranch nurseries to aid conservation based on a genomics framework

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 40, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Elasmobranch nurseries often differ in environmental conditions, demographics, and use patterns. These differences affect the distribution of genetic variation among nurseries. However, conservation and management strategies often fail to account for such differences because they are difficult to characterize.

Local Adaptation to Current but Not Future Climate in Seasonally Dry Tropical Forests: Population Genomic Evidence in a Neotropical Legume Tree

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications, Volume 19, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Neotropical seasonally dry biomes are amongst the world's most threatened ecosystems and are predicted to lose more biodiversity with climate change. The capacity of natural populations to respond to these changes depends on their genetic variation, but is poorly understood in most Neotropical seasonally dry forest species.

La colonialità del potere nei mezzi di comunicazione colombiani. Il caso dello sbiancamento nei telegiornali di RCN

open access: yesComparative Cultural Studies, 2019
This article shows how the coloniality of power manifests itself through the Colombian media, replicating aesthetic whitening paradigms that penetrate into the deepest meanders of cultural representations of ethnic groups, mainly African descendants and ...

Third Harmonic Generation in Transparent Longitudinal Epsilon‐Near‐Zero Multilayers

open access: yesNanophotonics, Volume 15, Issue 14, 27 July 2026.
Transparent longitudinal epsilon‐near‐zero stacks enable field‐enhanced nonlinear light generation while preserving high near‐infrared pump transmission. Broadband third‐harmonic generation is experimentally observed demonstrating that TLENZ architectures can mitigate pump‐loss limitations and offer a promising platform for transparent nonlinear ...

Social vulnerability shapes deep clinical phenotypes and brain health in aging and dementia across Latin America

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Adverse social conditions across the life course influence brain aging and dementia, yet their compounded impact on clinical phenotypes remains underexplored, particularly in Latin America, where social inequality and dementia burden are high.

Enhancing survival of Demodex folliculorum (Acari: Demodecidae) under in vitro condition: Effect of temperature and culture media

open access: yesPersian Journal of Acarology, 2021
Demodex spp. are ectoparasites that live on mammal's skin. Demodex folliculorum Simon is important in the pathogenesis of blepharitis and other inflammatory skin diseases; however, the in vitro culture has not been achieved yet.

Quasi‐BIC and Reflective Mode Coupling Drives SHG Beyond the Q Factor Limit

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 32, 8 June 2026.
An analytical expression is developed to relate second‐harmonic generation to both the resonance Q factor and absorptance. Simulations and experiments on a dual‐resonance 3R‐MoS2 metasurface validate the formula, showing that absorptance engineering provides an effective route to enhance SHG beyond conventional Q‐only design.

An optimal overcurrent protection strategy for mitigating the impacts of opportunity charging stations in distribution systems

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The rise of Battery Electric Buses (BEBs) in urban transportation networks, and the adoption of Opportunity Fast-Charging Systems (OFCSs) to support their operation, demand a close examination of the impact of these technologies on protection systems ...
