Development and Application of a Simplified Method for Preliminary Assessment of Enhanced Oil Recovery and CO2 Geological Storage in Petroleum Reservoirs

open access: yesGreenhouse Gases: Science and Technology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Geologic carbon storage in depleted oil and gas reservoirs is a key CO2 mitigation strategy, utilizing existing infrastructure such as injection wells and pipelines, while capitalizing on well‐characterized subsurface properties. This article introduces a versatile methodology designed to estimate critical parameters, including the number of ...

Evidence From Microscopy and U–Pb Geochronology as a Clue to the Influence of the Cretaceous Magmatism in the Diagenesis of Pre‐Salt Carbonate Reservoirs in the Santos Basin (Brazil)

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Carbonates from Santos Basin revealed U–Pb ages correlated with basalt ages (A), suggesting that they were formed during magmatic events. These events placed hot CO2 in the reservoir, which, when mixed with carbonate‐rich cold water (B), led to thermal convection, enabling the formation of the U contained in the carbonates.

Polygenic risk score and prostate specific antigen predict death from prostate cancer in men with intermediate aggressive cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? Using 21 SNPs, two novel PRS were constructed and used to develop two new machine‐learning classifiers, one for the detection of prostate cancer and the other for the prediction of its aggressiveness and subsequent mortality. The classifier for disease detection is built using the PRS as the sole feature, whereas the one for disease ...

Exploring The Atlantic World

open access: yesTeaching History: A Journal of Methods, 2003
"The Atlantic World" is an emerging perspective in early American history, one that blends nicely with contemporary interest in globalization. 1 This field is an exploration of connections that formed among Africa, Europe, and the Americas between c. 1500 and c. 1800, not only of the political and economic links engendered by colonization, but also the
