Posttraumatic Atlantoaxial Rotatory Fixation
Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics, 1985Atlantoaxial rotatory fixation is a rare entity occurring during childhood following trauma. A case of an 8-year-old girl with atlantoaxial rotatory fixation is described. Diagnosis was confirmed by computerized tomography, and the patient was treated by C1-C2 posterior fusion.

Lateral Atlantoaxial Joint Arthrography in Atlantoaxial Rotatory Fixation
Journal of Spinal Disorders & Techniques, 2003There has been much debate about the pathogenesis of atlantoaxial rotatory fixation. Intraarticular abnormality has not been well documented thus far. This is the first case of chronic atlantoaxial rotatory fixation in which atlantoaxial joints were examined by consecutive arthrography.

Rotary Fixation of the Atlantoaxial Joint: Rotational Atlantoaxial Subluxation
Radiology, 1968Although the anatomy and movements of the atlantoaxial joint are now well documented, much remains unknown regarding pathological conditions of this area. Infections of varying etiologies, as well as trauma, are well-known factors in the production of a forward atlantoaxial subluxation (26, 29, 37, 38).

Atlantoaxial Rotatory Fixation
Neurosurgery, 2010Atlantoaxial rotatory fixation (AARF) remains a recondite entity. Our normative study using CT motion analysis shows that there is a high degree of concordance for rotational behavior of C1 and C2 in children 0 to 18 years. C1 always crosses C2 at or near 0 degree.

Atlantoaxial rotatory fixation
Current Opinion in PediatricsPurpose of review This review provides the most up to date information on diagnosing and treating atlantoaxial rotatory fixation (AARF). The condition can be confused with torticollis, but primary care physicians should have a high index of suspicion for AARF as timely noninvasive treatment facilitates excellent

Atlantoaxial Rotatory Fixation
Spine, 1985The mechanism of atlantoaxial rotatory fixation was investigated by means of CT scanning. During the acute stage, there was a common rotatory displacement of the occiput and atlas complex in relation to the axis. As symptom subsided spontaneously or with treatment, the displacement was reduced and the occiput and atlas complex was in normal alignment ...

Double insurance atlantoaxial fixation
Surgical Neurology, 2007An alternative technique of atlantoaxial fixation is described, which combines the trans-articular method of fixation described by Magerl in 1982 and the interarticular technique described by us in 1988.Between January 2001 and January 2005, 18 patients underwent the discussed method of fixation at the Department of Neurosurgery at King Edward VII ...

Atlantoaxial Rotatory Fixation
2014Atlantoaxial Rotatory Fixation is a rare condition occuring more commonly in children than in adults, in which there is fixed rotation of C1 on C2. The fixation may occur within the range of normal rotation, may occur with subluxation, or may occur with dislocation.

Stereotactic atlantoaxial transarticular screw fixation
Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2005Atlantoaxial stabilisation can be performed using a variety of surgical techniques. Developments in spinal instrumentation and stereotactic technology have been incorporated into these procedures. We have recently adopted frameless stereotaxy to assist in such operations.

Management of Chronic Atlantoaxial Rotatory Fixation
Spine, 2012Retrospective case series of chronic atlantoaxial rotatory fixation (AARF) treated by a novel closed reduction method (remodeling therapy) and review of the literature. To describe clinical features of chronic AARF and the rationale of the remodeling therapy.Treatment strategy for chronic recurrent AARF remains controversial. Posterior C1-C2 arthrodesis
