Atlantoaxial rotatory subluxation after surgical relocation of Sprengel deformity

open access: yes, 2012
We report a case of atlantoaxial rotatory subluxation developed after scapular relocation for Sprengel deformity in a 5-year-old girl. Scapular relocation descended the scapula by 60%, and achieved a normal shoulder joint motion.

A novel deep intronic EIF2AK3 variant disrupts splicing and causes Wolcott–Rallison syndrome

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Aim Deep intronic variants can disrupt splicing and cause monogenic disease but are missed by routine genetic testing. This study assessed the contribution of deep intronic variants to Wolcott–Rallison syndrome (WRS), a recessive disorder characterized by early‐onset diabetes and progressive multisystem disease caused by loss‐of‐function ...

Dorsal C1–2 Spinal Cord Compression After Reduction of Atlantoaxial Posterior Dislocation Associated With Os Odontoideum: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 18, Issue 10, Page 2269-2275, October 2026.
Successful reduction of os odontoideum‐associated atlantoaxial posterior dislocation may not always guarantee adequate C1–2 canal space. In patients with congenital atlas hypoplasia or posterior arch osteophytes, postreduction dorsal cord compression should be anticipated, and C1 posterior arch decompression may be required to prevent neurological ...
