Atmosphere

2014
The atmosphere is the receiver of many by-products of our society, such us products of combustion of fossil fuels and industrial manufacturing. The studies on chemical pathways of trace atmospheric species are often complexes since the life cycles of such species are linked to an elaborate system of chemical and physical processes.

War atmospheres

Textual Practice, 2018
This article examines warfare as a problem of knowledge in the military theory, realist literature, and cartography of the nineteenth century. Against the background of the Napoleonic Wars, Carl von Clausewitz, Stendhal, and Charles Joseph Minard in different ways conceived of warfare as a profoundly contingent phenomenon that required a shift of ...

Atmospheric radiation and atmospheric humidity

Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, 1997
AbstractThis paper presents a report of some aspects of the effect of the dominant greenhouse gas in the earth's atmosphere, water vapour, on the radiative balance of the planet. Results from two satellite experiments which provide data on the concentration of water vapour in the upper and middle troposphere are presented.

Io’s Atmosphere and Surface-Atmosphere Interactions

Space Science Reviews, 2005
Our knowledge of Io’s atmosphere has improved dramatically in the last fifteen years, with a wealth of new observational data at millimeter, UV and IR wavelengths, and the development of numerous models describing its horizontal and vertical structure, composition, photochemistry and plasma interaction.

Radiation in the Arctic Atmosphere and Atmosphere

2020
Arctic surface temperature has been increasing at a rate 2-3 times that of the global average in the last half century. Enhanced warming of the Arctic, or Arctic Amplification, is a climatic response to external forcing. Despite good results obtained by climatic models for the globe, the largest intermodel differences in surface temperature warming are

Methane in the Atmosphere

Journal of the Air Pollution Control Association, 1967
Methane is present in the troposphere with a volume concentration of about 1.5 ppm. Estimates of Koyama indicate a predominantly biological origin with a total production rate of about 2.7 x 10/sup 14/ g CH/sub 4//yr. From that the author estimated the atmospheric lifetime of methane to be around 20 years.
