On the heat redistribution of the hot transiting exoplanet WASP-18b

open access: yes, 2013
The energy deposition and redistribution in hot Jupiter atmospheres is not well understood currently, but is a major factor for their evolution and survival.

A Correlation Between Stellar Activity and Hot Jupiter Emission Spectra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present evidence for a correlation between the observed properties of hot Jupiter emission spectra and the activity levels of the host stars measured using Ca II H & K emission lines.

ZnO‐Coated Silicon Oxide Nano‐Anode: Synergistic Enhancement of Cycling and Thermal Stability of Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Lithium‐ion battery anodes that maintain good performance and excellent stability under high temperature conditions. Silicon oxide (SiO) has great potential as a high‐capacity anode for lithium‐ion batteries, but its practical use is limited by excessive volume expansion (>200%) and rapid capacity fade, especially at high temperatures.

Influence of stellar variability on the determination of the radius during a transit of an exoplanet

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2011
Stellar variability can affect the estimate of an exoplanet radius measured during a transit. We developed a transit light curve model which includes stellar spots.

Magnetohydrodynamical Torsional Oscillations from Thermoresistive Instability in Hot Jupiters

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Hot Jupiter atmospheres may be subject to a thermoresistive instability where an increase in the electrical conductivity due to ohmic heating results in runaway of the atmospheric temperature.

High Temperature Photochemistry in the Atmosphere of HD189733b [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Recent infrared spectroscopy of hot exoplanets is beginning to reveal their atmospheric composition. Deep with in the planetary atmosphere, the composition is controlled by thermochemical equilibrium.

Planets of the solar system [PDF]

open access: yes
Venera and Mariner spacecraft and ground based radio astronomy and spectroscopic observations of the atmosphere and surface of venus are examined. The composition and structural parameters of the atmosphere are discussed as the basis for development of ...

Exoplanet albedo spectra and colors as a function of planet phase, separation, and metallicity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
First generation optical coronagraphic telescopes will obtain images of cool gas and ice giant exoplanets around nearby stars. The albedo spectra of exoplanets at planet-star separations larger than about 1 AU are dominated by reflected light to beyond 1
