Nutritional value of seven demersal fish species from the North Atlantic Azores archipelago

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X
Valorization of azorean demersal fish species must focus quality. This study aims to assess the nutritional value, sodium content and fat quality index of seven commercially relevant demersal fish species from the Azores Region: blackspot seabream ...

Measures to prevent emissions of pollutants when burning coals in small-capacity boilers in the central ecological area of the Baikal natural territory

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
The paper presents a brief description of the municipal coal-fired boiler plants of the central ecological zone and estimation of the emission of pollutants into the atmosphere. The intensity and volume of emissions depend on many factors.

Is Young's Modulus a Critical Coating Property Determining Fouling‐Release Performance of Marine Coatings?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The release of foulers from protective marine coatings is determined by several interrelated material properties, including the strength of Young's modulus, the flexibility of chain segments, the surface free energy, and the magnitude of hydrodynamic stress.

Star-planet magnetic interaction and evaporation of planetary atmospheres

open access: yes, 2013
Stars interact with their close-in planets through radiation, gravitation, and magnetic fields. We investigate the energy input to a planetary atmosphere by reconnection between stellar and planetary magnetic fields and compare it to the energy input of ...

Linking Heat Treatment to Plastic Deformation in Pearlitic Steels Through Mesoscale Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Surface wear on rail and wheel steels results from surface deformation during use. This research uses mathematical models to forecast the plastic behavior of pearlitic steels, connected to the microstructure formed during heat treatment. While the cooling rate impacts the steels’ strength, the size of prior austenite grains and blocks does not ...

Improved Strength and Corrosion Resistance of Ti–50Zr Alloy Through Heat Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work systematically analyzes the effects of heat treatment on mechanical properties and corrosion behavior of Ti‐50Zr alloy produced via vacuum arc melting. Microstructure transforms from coarse lamellar α phase in as‐cast condition to fine and uniformly distributes acicular α′ phase in heat‐treatment state.

Development and Performance Evaluation of a Household Liquefied Petroleum Gas Monitoring and Leakage Detector

open access: yesCovenant Journal of Engineering Technology, 2020
The percentage of death and material losses as a result of the explosion of household liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) has risen in recent years, hence the need for a suitable gas leaking detection and alert system.
